The main Captions alternatives are Submagic and Opus Clip for captions and short clips, VEED and Descript for fuller editing, and CapCut for a free editor you can try online. The Captions app lists its Max plan at $24.99 a month on iOS (checked 2026-10-20).

## What Captions does well, and why teams look elsewhere

Captions is an app from NOCAP, Inc. that uses AI to edit, caption, translate and generate videos. Its pricing page lists iOS plans, and the paid plans work in monthly credits:

- **Max:** $24.99 a month, 500 credits, a chat-based editor, AI actors and long videos turned into clips.
- **Frontier:** $69.99 a month for 1,400 credits. Frontier 2x is $139.99 and Frontier 4x is $279.99.
- **Free:** no AI credits, one caption template and basic tools.

Teams look elsewhere for prices that cover more than iOS plans, a plan priced by videos instead of credits, or a different mix of captions and clips.

## A worked example

Say you want a year of captions for one editor.

- Captions Max: 12 x $24.99 = $299.88.
- Submagic Starter billed yearly: 12 x $12 = $144. It is $19 a month if you pay monthly.
- Descript Hobbyist billed yearly: 12 x $16 = $192.
- Opus Clip Pro billed yearly: 12 x $9.50 = $114.
- VEED Creator billed yearly: INR 5,874.

These tools cap different things: credits, videos, or media hours. Compare what each plan lets you finish in a month, not only the price.
