## Where you buy ads

Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads are the base. Google says CPC bidding means you pay for each click on your ads. Meta advises a budget that lasts at least seven days. Most of the tools below sit on top of these two.

## Tools that find and rate creative

**Foreplay.** A swipe file, ad search and briefs, with a 7-day trial that needs a card. Tracking and analytics start on Workflow at $175/month ($149 billed yearly).

**Atria.** Ad research, followed brands and creative grading in one tool. Core has 5 seats and 50 followed brands. Plus is $479/month billed yearly with 100 brands, and Business is $959 with 200.

**Motion.** Reads your own accounts. Starter includes unlimited seats, unlimited ad accounts, AI tags, benchmarks and routine reports and alerts. Pro and Growth prices are not listed publicly. See [Foreplay vs Motion](/compare/foreplay-vs-motion) if you are weighing research against analytics.

## Tools that track and report

**Northbeam.** Plans scale with ad spend. Professional is $3,500/month for up to $500k a month on ads. Growth and Enterprise are custom. The page says price also reflects data volume.

**Madgicx.** Its AI Marketer audits a Meta account and suggests next steps. Its pricing page says the price is shown inside the app.

**Supermetrics.** Moves ad data into Data Studio, Sheets or Excel. See the [best ad reporting tools](/best/best-ad-reporting-tools).

## Does a tool pay for itself?

Work out [break-even ROAS](/glossary/break-even-roas) first. Then ask how much extra revenue the tool must bring. Say you spend $20,000 a month at a [ROAS](/glossary/roas) of 2.5, which is $50,000 in sales. Your margin after product costs is 40%. A $999 tool must add $999 / 0.40 = $2,497.50 in sales to cover itself. That is about 5% more revenue, or a ROAS of 2.62 instead of 2.5. If you cannot name how the tool gets you there, wait.

## Order to buy in

1. Fix your signal. Set up the [Conversions API](/glossary/conversions-api) so Meta sees your sales.
2. Add creative research.
3. Add creative analytics once you run enough ads to compare.
4. Add tracking when channels overlap.

We make Marxx. It reads your Meta ad account, tags creatives by hook, angle, format and offer, and splits fatigue into "fatiguing now" and "within 7 days". It tracks competitor ads and has a canvas that publishes ads to Meta. Its [creative intelligence](/features/creative-intelligence) is the part D2C teams use most.

## FAQ

### What is the first tool a D2C brand should buy?

Usually none. Fix tracking, then add creative research. A tool helps most when you already run enough ads to compare.

### Can I try Madgicx for free?

Its pricing page offers a 7-day free trial and says the price is shown inside the app.

### Do I need attribution software?

When you run several channels and Meta alone cannot explain your sales, it helps. Below that, Meta's own reporting with the Conversions API set up is often enough.
