Most D2C brands should start with the free options: Meta's own reporting with the Conversions API set up, and Google Analytics. Add Triple Whale when you sell across several channels. Northbeam suits larger spenders, and Polar Analytics and Wicked Reports are other paid options.

## Quick comparison

| Tool | Best for | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | A free view of all your traffic | Free, per Google |

## The tools

**Google Analytics.** Google says it is free of charge. Its attribution reports offer three models: data-driven, paid and organic last click, and Google paid channels last click. Google's help page says first click, linear, time decay and position-based models have not been available since November 2023. [Read Google's page](https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/10596866).

**Triple Whale.** The free plan has up to 10 users, 12 months of data, and first and last click attribution. Its pixel and Moby AI assistant come with the free plan, and the pricing page says multi-touch attribution starts on Foundation. See [Triple Whale vs Northbeam](/compare/triple-whale-vs-northbeam).

**Northbeam.** Professional is $3,500/month and the page says it fits brands up to $500k a month in ad spend. Incrementality is an optional add-on. The other plans are by quote. The page's FAQ says monthly prices are estimates based on data volume. For other options, see [Northbeam alternatives](/alternatives/northbeam-alternatives).

**Polar Analytics.** Lists multi-touch attribution, an AI assistant called Ask Polar AI and an MCP connection for Claude and ChatGPT. Its pricing page shows no prices and points to a demo.

**Wicked Reports.** Plans follow your last 12 months of gross revenue. Measure covers revenue up to $2.5 million. Add-ons for its AI and Meta Conversions API signal cost $199/month each on Measure and Scale.

## Why attribution tools disagree

Say Meta reports 150 orders for last week, Google reports 110, and your store shows 180 orders from paid traffic. Meta and Google together claim 260. Your store counted 180. That is 80 orders claimed twice, or 31% of the claimed total. Each platform credits itself, so the sums do not match. An attribution tool picks one rule and applies it to every channel. Read why the numbers differ in [GA4 vs Meta Ads Manager numbers](/compare/ga4-vs-meta-ads-manager-numbers).

## A worked example on cost

Say you spend INR 20,00,000 a month on ads, and $1 is INR 85. That is about $23,529. Northbeam Professional at $3,500 is INR 2,97,500, which is 14.9% of your spend. Professional covers spend up to $500k, so at your spend you pay for room you do not use. Ask for a quote on a smaller plan, or start with a free option.

## What to check

1. **Fix the signal.** Set up the [Conversions API](/glossary/conversions-api) so Meta sees your sales.
2. **Know your measure.** Watch blended [MER](/glossary/mer) before you buy.
3. **Test, do not guess.** An [incrementality](/glossary/incrementality) test shows what ads add.

We make Marxx. It is not an attribution tool. It reads your connected Meta ad account in full and shows which creative is fatiguing now and within 7 days, so you can see which ads to refresh. Use it beside, not in place of, the tools above.

## FAQ

### Do I need an attribution tool?

Not at first. With one main channel, Meta's reporting plus the Conversions API is often enough. Look at a tool when channels overlap and the platform numbers do not add up.

### Is Google Analytics enough?

It is free and gives a view across channels. It does not tell you which creative to make, and its numbers will differ from Meta's.

### What is the cheapest paid option?

The lowest price we could read is Wicked Reports' Measure plan at $499/month, and Northbeam's Starter plan shows a figure of $1,500 with a quote required. Triple Whale's paid plans and Polar's plans are not priced publicly.
