## DaVinci Resolve

The free version edits 8-bit video up to Ultra HD at 60 fps and includes multi-user collaboration. Studio adds Smart Reframe, IntelliCut, auto subtitles and voice isolation. In India Studio is Rs 25,980 on sale until 20 Nov 2026 (list Rs 31,980, excluding GST; checked 3 Nov 2026).

## Clipchamp

Microsoft's editor runs in a browser and as a Windows app. Free exports go up to 1080p with no watermark. Premium comes with Microsoft 365 Personal at Rs 689 a month or Rs 6,899 a year (checked 3 Nov 2026), and adds 4K export. It lists AI subtitles in over 80 languages and silence removal.

## PowerDirector and Filmora

PowerDirector Essential is free but adds a watermark and blocks 2K and 4K H.264 export. The paid 365 plan lists AI text-based editing, auto reframe and AI background removal. Filmora's free desktop version adds a watermark. Its own pages disagree on exact paid prices. It lists AI Text-Based Editing and Auto Reframe, and runs on Windows and macOS.

## Premiere Pro, Camtasia, Descript

Premiere Pro (now called Adobe Premiere) is membership only. Camtasia runs on Windows 10 or 11 and adds a watermark on free exports. Descript needs Windows 11 or newer.

CapCut Desktop also runs on Windows. CapCut is not officially available in India: it is not on the Indian App Store, and its pricing page shows no plans to visitors from India (checked 3 Nov 2026).

## A worked example

Say you pick PowerDirector. The 2027 licence is Rs 11,499 once. The 365 plan is Rs 5,599 a year, so two years cost Rs 11,198, which is Rs 301 less. From year three the one-time licence is cheaper. The 365 plan also adds monthly updates and more content.

Clipchamp Premium has a similar gap: Rs 689 x 12 = Rs 8,268 monthly, against Rs 6,899 yearly.
