**Where can you find customisable Facebook ad templates and mockups?** Canva and Adobe Express have the most editable ad layouts. Figma Community has free feed and story mockup frames, and Ads Manager previews every placement. The best templates of all are in the ad library: ads that have run for months. Copy their layout, not their content.

Search "Facebook ad templates" and you'll find thousands of them. Almost none come with any evidence that they work. They were designed to look good in a template gallery, not to stop a thumb in a feed.

There's a better source hiding in plain sight. When a brand keeps paying for the same ad for months, the layout of that ad is a proven template. You just have to X-ray it: strip out the brand, the photo and the words, and keep the skeleton.

## Six places to find templates

Start here if you need a layout today.

Six places to find Facebook ad templates: Canva, Adobe Express, Figma Community, Meta's own tools, template shops, and the ad library

| Where | Cost | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Canva** | Free + paid | Fast static ads, resizes | Popular templates are everywhere; change the layout, not just the colours |
| **Adobe Express** | Free + paid | Brand kits across a team | Same problem: lots of people use the same designs |
| **Figma Community** | Free | Feed and story mockups for presenting to clients | Mockups show a design; they don't make the ad |
| **Meta Ads Manager** | Free | Checking how an ad looks in each placement | Previews only, not templates |
| **Template shops** (Envato, Creative Market) | Paid packs | A consistent set for a campaign | Designed to sell to designers, not tested in a feed |
| **The ad library** | Free | Layouts with proof they work | You have to X-ray them yourself (see below) |

## How to X-ray a long-running ad

Pick an ad in your category that has been running for 30 days or more. Then draw boxes over it: where is the hook, where is the product, where is the proof, where is the call to action? Delete everything inside the boxes. What's left is your template.

Here are five skeletons from real ads in the Marxx library, with how long each was live in October 2026.

Three static ads with their skeletons: an offer stack, a quote card and a pain question

### 1. The offer stack (Wonderla, 99 days)

**Skeleton:** big offer at the top, people enjoying the product in the middle, product name at the bottom.
**Why it works:** the offer ("Buy 3, Get 1 Free") is readable before you've even seen the photo.
**Proof it's a template:** Wonderla ran four versions of this ad, with 35 to 44 copies each. The layout stayed; the photo and offer wording changed.

### 2. The quote card (Porcellia, 135 days)

**Skeleton:** logo at the top, a big result quote in the middle, the person's name and face at the bottom.
**Why it works:** the result is the headline. The face makes it believable.
**Use it for:** B2B, services, anything where a customer's number beats your claim.

### 3. The pain question (Redats, 225 days)

**Skeleton:** a bold question naming the reader's problem over a dark image, with the product below.
**Why it works:** a question about *your* problem is hard to scroll past.
**Use it for:** products that fix a clear, nameable frustration.

Two video skeletons: a news-desk presenter and a reply-to-a-comment creator video

### 4. The news desk (MySivi, 62 days)

**Skeleton:** a headline banner, a presenter framed like a news anchor, then proof (people, results) below.
**Why it works:** the "breaking news" frame borrows urgency, and a presenter doesn't need to pretend to be a customer.

### 5. Reply to a comment (Funding Fred, new cut every 2-5 days)

**Skeleton:** a comment bubble at the top, a creator answering it, a CTA button at the bottom.
**Why it's different:** this ad didn't last, and that's the point. The skeleton stayed and the creator and comment changed every few days. Some templates are built to be refilled fast.

## Customise it without breaking it

The most common mistake with templates is changing the wrong things. Keep the structure that made it work, and change the content.

Lock the skeleton: where the hook sits, text size and contrast, where the product sits, CTA position. Flex the content: hook words, photo or creator, offer, colours within your brand

- **Lock:** where the hook sits, the text size and contrast, where the product sits, the CTA position.
- **Flex:** the hook's words, the photo or creator, the offer, colours (within your brand).

Then check it at real size. A layout that works on a laptop can fail on a phone mid-scroll. See [the two-second test in our mockup tools guide](/blog/facebook-ad-mockup-tools).

## From skeleton to finished ad

A template still leaves you with a blank box that says "BIG OFFER". The Marxx generation canvas fills it in. Start from a hook that's already working in your category, and the canvas writes the script and copy, adds voice and an avatar or UGC-style creator, and resizes for every placement.

## FAQ

**Where can I find free Facebook ad templates?**
Canva and Adobe Express have free tiers, and Figma Community has free mockup frames. The ad library is free too, and it's where the proven layouts are.

**What's the difference between a template and a mockup?**
A template is a layout you fill in to make the ad. A mockup shows a finished design inside a fake Facebook or Instagram feed, usually for approval.

**How do I know if a template will work?**
Look for the same layout in ads that have run for 30+ days, or that the brand has copied many times.

**Can I copy a competitor's ad layout?**
Layouts are common practice. Don't copy their words, images, logo or brand.

## Turn one skeleton into a finished ad

**Trial the Marxx generation canvas:** start from a proven hook, then let the canvas write, voice, cast and resize it.
