# IPL season ad campaign ideas

The IPL 2027 dates are not official yet. The BCCI secretary has said the season could start around **10 March** and end around **15 May**, about two weeks earlier than 2026, which ran from 28 March to 31 May ([Wisden](https://www.wisden.com/series/ipl-2026/cricket-news/explained-why-ipl-2027-may-start-earlier-than-previous-seasons), 18 June 2026; checked 2026-10-20). Plan for a nine-week season, build reactive creative, and check two rules before you launch.

## Two rules to check first

- **Online money games cannot be advertised.** India's Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 bans online money games and their advertising. Its Rules came into force on 1 May 2026. Advertising such games can bring up to two years in prison, a fine of up to INR 50 lakh, or both ([PIB, 30 April 2026](https://static.pib.gov.in/WriteReadData/specificdocs/documents/2026/apr/doc2026430859401.pdf)). Ask a lawyer before you run any predict-and-win contest.
- **IPL names and marks need a licence.** The law firm Khurana & Khurana says the BCCI's rules bar using IPL names or marks without a licence to promote goods or to suggest a link with the league ([25 July 2023](https://www.khuranaandkhurana.com/2023/07/25/defending-ipl-from-ambush-marketing-strategies/)). ## Formats that fit a long season

Speed matters more than polish. Agree on who can approve a reactive post in under two hours.

## Fatigue in a nine-week season

Say the same person sees your ad three times a week. Over nine weeks that is 3 x 9 = 27 views. If you rotate five versions, each person sees any one version about five times. ## Dates that overlap

If the season starts around 10 March, it runs through [Holi](/campaigns/holi-ad-ideas) on 22 March, [Mother's Day](/campaigns/mothers-day-ad-ideas) on 9 May and [Akshaya Tritiya](/campaigns/akshaya-tritiya-ad-ideas) on 8 or 9 May. - Using team logos, player faces or the IPL mark without a licence
