Use ChatGPT with an MCP connection when one person wants to dig into the numbers alone, and a Slack bot when the team should see the same answer in the client's channel. Both can read your ad account. The difference is who sees the answer, where it is kept and how the team picks up from it.

## Three differences that matter

### 1. Who sees the answer

In ChatGPT, the analysis lives in your chat. To share it, you copy it into Slack or email, and the context stays behind. In Slack, the answer lands in a thread the whole channel can read. Say Priya Shah asks about last week's leads. Karan Mehta can reply in the same thread with "Now split it by ad set" without starting over.

That is also the risk. A Slack answer is visible to everyone in the channel, so put the bot only in channels with the right people.

### 2. Memory and context

A ChatGPT chat can hold a long back-and-forth, and you can paste in briefs, exports and notes. A Slack thread is shorter and shared. Ask each Slack tool how long it keeps questions and answers, and when it deletes them.

### 3. Data freshness

Both read the ad account through a tool at the moment you ask, not from a file you uploaded last month. How current the numbers are depends on how often that tool syncs from Meta and Google. Ask the vendor, and check one number in Ads Manager before you send a report.

## A worked example

Say Northwind Escapes, a made-up client, spent INR 84,200 on Meta last week for 212 leads.

- **In ChatGPT:** Priya asks for a weekly summary, then a chart, then a draft client email. Cost per lead is INR 84,200 / 212 = INR 397. She copies the email into Slack when it is ready.
- **In Slack:** Karan mentions the ad tool's bot in `#client-northwind`: "how did our Meta ads do last week?". The thread shows INR 397 a lead, down from INR 441. The team lead replies with a question in the thread, and the bot answers there.
