Both Claude and Gemini can write usable ad copy, and we did not benchmark them. Pick the one that fits where your work lives: Claude if you want a saved brand brief in Projects, Gemini if you live in Gmail and Docs. Then run the same brief through both and let a spend test decide.

## Side by side

| | Claude | Gemini |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Yes. Chat, web search, up to 5 Projects, connectors | Yes. Gems, Canvas, Deep Research, image generation |
| Paid entry | Pro, $20 a month, or $17 a month billed $200 up front | Google AI Plus, INR 399 a month (India page) |
| Next tier | Max, from $100 a month | Google AI Pro, INR 1,950 a month |
| Saved brand setup | Projects | Gems |
| Works with your tools | Connectors, and Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365 on Pro | Gemini in Gmail and Docs on AI Pro |
| Top tier | Max, 5x or 20x Pro usage | Ultra, from INR 6,500 a month |

Details are from [Claude's pricing page](https://claude.com/pricing) and [Google's Gemini plans page](https://gemini.google/subscriptions/), checked 2026-10-20. Google showed rupees for India. Claude's page names no currency, so we read its "$" as US dollars.

## What matters for ad copy

Whichever tool you use, these inputs shape the result:

1. **Your brief.** Product, audience, offer, tone and banned claims.
2. **Your examples.** Three past ads that worked, and three that did not.
3. **Your rules.** Meta's ad policies still apply to anything either tool writes. Check every claim.
4. **Your language.** Test Hindi, Hinglish or Arabic with real prompts. Do not assume.

Claude's Projects and Gemini's Gems both let you save that setup once. Gemini AI Pro lists a 1M-token context window, which holds a lot of past ads. Claude's page lists a context window of up to 1M, varying by model (checked 2026-10-20).

## A worked test

Say you sell protein bars. A pack of 12 is INR 499.

1. Write one brief: product, audience, the INR 499 offer, three past winning headlines, and banned claims.
2. Ask each tool for 10 hooks.
3. Have two teammates score all 20 without knowing which tool wrote which. Take the best 3 from each.
4. Run the 6 ads at INR 1,000 a day each for 3 days. That is 6 x INR 1,000 x 3 = INR 18,000.

Compare [cost per purchase](/glossary/cpa), not which hook you liked. Use [50 hook examples](/templates/ad-hook-examples) or [how to write ad hooks](/guides/how-to-write-ad-hooks) to seed the brief.

## Who should pick which

- **A saved brand brief and long drafting sessions:** Claude.
- **Docs, Gmail and Google Workspace work:** Gemini.
- **Both:** the free plans are enough for the test above.

Marxx has a hosted MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT, so they can read your connected Meta ad account and your Google Ads spend, campaigns and search terms, and your copy sits next to real account numbers. We make it, so weigh that. See [the MCP server](/mcp) and [how to connect Google Ads to Claude](/guides/how-to-connect-google-ads-to-claude).

## FAQ

### Which writes better ad copy, Claude or Gemini?

We have not tested that, and the answer changes with each model release. Run your own brief through both and judge by results.

### Is the free plan enough for ad copy?

For drafts and a test like the one above, yes. Paid plans add usage and extra features.

### Should I paste my customer data into either tool?

Check your own data rules first. Keep personal details out of prompts unless your plan and policy allow it.
