Both Gemini and ChatGPT write good ad copy, hooks and scripts, so the writing is rarely the deciding factor. Pick by what sits around the chat. Gemini fits if you work in Google tools and want video generation in the same plan. ChatGPT fits if you want apps, projects and connectors. Run the same brief through both, and keep the one whose drafts you edit least.

## Plans and prices

| | Gemini (India, rupees) | ChatGPT (India, rupees) |
|---|---|---|
| Free | INR 0 | INR 0 |
| Low-cost plan | Google AI Plus, INR 399 a month | Go, INR 399 a month incl. GST |
| Main paid plan | Google AI Pro, INR 1,950 a month | Plus, INR 1,999 a month |
| Top plans | Google AI Ultra, from INR 6,500 a month | Pro, from INR 10,699 a month incl. GST |
| Team plan | Not checked | Business, $20 a user a month billed yearly |

Gemini prices are from Google's India Gemini plans page. ChatGPT prices are from OpenAI's pricing page as it shows in India, except Business, which comes from OpenAI's business pricing page in dollars (all checked 20 Oct 2026). Your price at checkout can differ by country.

## What each plan offers for ad work

**Gemini:** the Free plan includes image generation and editing and Deep Research. Plus and Pro list video generation, and Pro gives 1,000 Flow credits a month. Flow uses Gemini Omni Flash for video. See [Kling vs Veo](/compare/kling-vs-veo) for what is behind Google's video tools.

**ChatGPT:** OpenAI lists image generation, deeper research and apps on its plans, and those that connect to internal tools sit on Plus and Pro. Ads may appear for people on Free and Go. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise show none.

Model names change often, so judge the output rather than the name.

## Where each tends to fit

| Job | A reasonable first pick |
|---|---|
| Hooks, headlines, scripts | Either. Test both. |
| Long research on a market | Whichever has Deep Research on your plan |
| Image concepts | Either. Check the image limits on your plan |
| Video clips | Gemini, if Flow is in your plan |
| Reusable prompt setups | ChatGPT projects and custom GPTs |
| Working inside Docs, Sheets, Gmail | Gemini |

Neither tool knows your ad results unless you connect them. Paste the data in, or connect an account. A connection standard called [MCP](/glossary/mcp) lets a chatbot read your tools directly.

## A fair test, with numbers

Say you run one brief through both: a INR 899 protein bar for office workers. Ask for 10 hooks. Score each hook from 1 to 5 on three questions: Would I run it? Is it specific? Does it fit our voice? That is 150 points possible.

| | Gemini | ChatGPT |
|---|---|---|
| Score for 10 hooks | 112 | 121 |
| Hooks you would run unchanged | 3 | 4 |
| Minutes spent editing | 25 | 20 |

These numbers are made up. In this case ChatGPT wins on your voice. Repeat with a second brief before you pay for a plan, since one test is a small sample. Then test the hooks in real ads, because a chatbot cannot tell you what works. Use [ad hook examples](/templates/ad-hook-examples) and [how to write ad hooks](/guides/how-to-write-ad-hooks) to judge the drafts.

## Things to check in either

- **Claims:** remove any result or statistic the chatbot invents.
- **Rules:** make sure the copy fits each platform's ad policies.
- **Sameness:** many people ask the same tool, so ask for a specific angle.

Starter prompts are in [ChatGPT prompts for Facebook ads](/templates/chatgpt-prompts-for-facebook-ads). If you want ChatGPT or Claude to read your live ad accounts, Marxx runs a read-only hosted [MCP server](/mcp) for both. We make Marxx, so weigh that.

## FAQ

### Which is better for writing ad copy?

Neither wins every time. Both write fluent copy. Test the same brief in each and keep the tool whose drafts need the fewest edits.

### Can either tool see my ad performance?

Not by default. You can paste in data or connect your accounts, for example through an MCP server.
