Veo and Kling both turn text or images into short video clips with sound. Veo is Google's model, and Google publishes its per-second price for developers. Kling is from Kling AI and charges in credits. For ad teams, test both on your own product shots. One change to know: Google says its Veo 3.1 preview models shut down on 22 October 2026 and points users to Gemini Omni Flash.

## What Veo costs on the Gemini API

Google lists Veo 3.1 prices in dollars per second of video, with audio (checked 20 Oct 2026):

| Model | 720p | 1080p | 4K |
|---|---|---|---|
| Veo 3.1 Standard | $0.40 | $0.40 | $0.60 |
| Veo 3.1 Fast | $0.10 | $0.12 | $0.30 |
| Veo 3.1 Lite | $0.05 | $0.08 | Not supported |

Google's pricing page warns that these preview models shut down on 22 October 2026, and recommends Gemini Omni Flash instead. Its deprecations page lists Gemini Omni Flash with a release date of 27 August 2026 and no shutdown date. Check the current page before you budget.

Kling's credit prices can change, so check its pricing on the day you buy.

## A worked example

Say you want one 8-second product clip for a INR 1,499 bottle and you expect 6 tries before you like one.

- **Veo 3.1 Fast at 1080p:** 8 seconds x $0.12 is $0.96 a try. Six tries cost $5.76.
- **Veo 3.1 Standard at 1080p:** 8 seconds x $0.40 is $3.20 a try. Six tries cost $19.20.

Draft on the cheaper model, then spend on the best one. On Kling, you spend credits instead, so count how many credits a try costs before you commit.

## What AI video is good for in ads

- Hooks and b-roll that would cost a shoot
- Concept tests before you pay for filming
- Social formats, such as 9:16 clips

Watch the limits. Product detail, text on packs and hands can look wrong, so check every frame. Keep an honest line on claims, and read [static ads vs video ads](/compare/static-ads-vs-video-ads) to decide when video earns its cost. For people on camera, see [AI UGC vs human UGC](/compare/ai-ugc-vs-human-ugc).

## How to choose

1. Make the same three clips in both: a product close-up, a person using it, and a scene.
2. Score realism, product accuracy and how many tries each clip took.
3. Divide your spend by the clips you would actually run.

Marxx has a [production canvas](/features/production-canvas) for image, video, voice, dubbing, avatars and UGC, which publishes campaigns, ad sets and ads to Meta. We make Marxx, so weigh that. If you used OpenAI's Sora, read [Sora vs Veo](/compare/sora-vs-veo).

## FAQ

### Is Veo or Kling better for ads?

Neither wins on every shot. Run the same three prompts in both and judge realism, product accuracy and cost per usable clip.

### Do Veo and Kling add sound?

Both describe native audio, including speech and sound effects. Check the current model before you rely on lip sync.
