# Zapier vs a native Slack lead integration

> Zapier posts a lead to Slack as text. A native integration such as Marxx adds buttons that update the lead, hidden contact details and a channel per client.

Use Zapier when you need any lead source in any channel and a text message is enough. Use a native integration, one built by the tool that already holds your leads, when you want people to claim leads from Slack, keep phone numbers out of the channel and give each client its own channel without building a flow for each. We make Marxx, the native example on this page.

## Side by side

| | Zapier | Native integration (Marxx) |
|---|---|---|
| What it posts | The fields you map into the message | Client, form, ad, campaign and time received, with **Open lead in Marxx** |
| Contact details | Whatever fields you map, seen by the whole channel | Hidden by default. **Include name and contact details** is off until you switch it on |
| Buttons that write back | Not in a plain "Send Channel Message" step | **Mark contacted** and **Add note** update the lead in Marxx |
| One channel per client | One Zap per client or form, built by you | A default channel set per client in Settings |
| In a rush of leads | Posts each run, within Slack's limits | Up to 20 lead messages per client every 10 minutes. Every lead stays in Marxx |
| Old leads after reconnecting | Depends on how you build the Zap | Leads older than 7 days are never posted |
| Cost | Per task. Free 100 tasks, Professional $19.99/month billed yearly for 750 | Priced per workspace. See [Marxx pricing](/pricing) |
| Lead sources | Any app Zapier connects | Meta lead forms only |

## Difference 1: the message does something

A Zapier message is text. Someone reads it and then goes to another tool to record what they did. In Marxx, **Mark contacted** moves a new lead to Contacted (when its ad account has a Contacted stage), and the Slack message updates for everyone: "Contacted by Priya Shah". If Karan Mehta already moved it, Marxx says "This lead is already Qualified by Karan Mehta" and changes nothing. That stops two people calling the same lead. If you send lead stages to Meta through the Conversions API, the Slack click sends the same update.

## Difference 2: phone numbers stay out by default

With Zapier you decide which fields to post. Marxx posts a pointer by default. Its Slack message says "Contact details are hidden in Slack", and the details sit behind **Open lead in Marxx**. You can switch them on per client if the whole channel should see them.

## Difference 3: one channel per client, without a flow per client

Say an agency has 8 clients, each with 2 lead forms. With Zapier, that can mean 16 Zaps to build, name and check whenever a form changes. With a native integration, you pick a default channel for each client once, and new forms follow it.

The cost differs too. Suppose those clients bring 1,200 leads a month and you post each to Slack. On Zapier that is at least 1,200 tasks, more than the 750 on the entry Professional plan. A native integration has no task meter.

## When Zapier is the right call

- Your leads come from Google Ads lead forms, a website form or a CRM. Marxx posts Meta lead form leads only.
- You want the lead in Slack and in a sheet and in a CRM in one flow.
- You have one brand and one form, and text is enough.

For the step-by-step on either route, see [how to get Facebook lead notifications in Slack](/guides/how-to-get-facebook-lead-notifications-in-slack) and the [full tool list](/best/best-tools-to-send-facebook-leads-to-slack).

## FAQ

### Can Zapier add a "Mark contacted" button in Slack?

A plain "Send Channel Message" step posts text. Building buttons that update the lead takes extra work beyond that step.

### Does a native integration replace Zapier?

Only for the lead source it covers. Marxx covers Meta lead forms, so keep Zapier for Google Ads or website leads.

### Is it safe to post leads in a client channel?

Post the least you need. Keep contact details hidden unless everyone in the channel should see them. See [Marxx in Slack](/features/slack) for how the settings work.
