# An AI video editor built for ads, and for the AI that edits them.

A full multi-track editor in the browser, wired to the production canvas and to your agent. Open the clips you generated straight onto a timeline, ask for the edit in plain language, or let Claude make it over MCP.

**Edit by prompt, or by hand.** Ask for 'remove the dead air and caption it' and the assistant does it on the timeline, as one undo step. Everything it does, you can also do yourself on the same tracks.

**Built around the ad, not the film.** Safe zones for Reels, Stories and Shorts, captions that sit inside them, music ducked under speech, and an export preset for Meta ads.

**Connected to the rest of Marxx.** Clips generated on the production canvas open on the timeline in reading order, and the finished cut goes back to the canvas to dub, upscale or publish.

## Questions

### What is the Marxx AI video editor?

It is a multi-track video editor that runs in the browser and is built for ad creative. You can edit by hand, with a timeline, keyframes, masks, captions, effects and transitions, or describe the edit and let the built-in assistant or an agent like Claude carry it out on the open project. It sits inside Marxx, so footage comes in from your uploads, brand assets, saved ads and the production canvas, and the finished cut goes back out to the canvas and to Meta.

### Can AI edit the video for me?

Yes. The assistant can use every tool in the editor: it can remove silences and filler words, cut by transcript, add word-by-word captions, place sound effects on moments, duck music under speech, add b-roll, reframe for a platform, fit a cut to a target duration and finish a cut in a chosen style. Each request lands as one undo step, so a change you do not want is one click to reverse.

### Can Claude edit my videos?

Yes, through the Marxx MCP server. Claude, or any MCP client, can read the open project, make edits, and ask for a quote before anything that spends credits. Edits run in your own editor tab and are saved to the project, and anything paid has to be approved by the person in that tab before it runs. The project needs to be open in a desktop browser while the agent works on it.

### How do auto-captions work?

The clip is transcribed and the captions are placed at word, phrase or sentence level. The caption library carries the styles trending on Reels and Shorts, including ones that put the word behind the speaker, key-word emphasis, automatic emoji and a sound on key words. Each word can be restyled or retimed, captions can be split and merged, a client's caption theme can be saved and reused, and subtitles can be imported from SRT, VTT or ASS and exported as SRT or VTT.

### Can it remove silences and filler words?

Yes. Dead air and filler words are found from the transcript and cut out, and the gaps close on the timeline. Because the cut is made from what was said, you can also remove a specific word or line by asking for it, rather than by scrubbing for it.

### Is it built for vertical ads?

Yes. Projects can be 9:16, 1:1, 16:9 or 4:3, and safe-zone overlays for Reels, Stories, Shorts and TikTok show where the platform's interface will sit, so captions and offers stay clear of it. Reframing a cut for another placement is a single request.

### Can I generate footage, voice and music inside the editor?

Yes. The Generate tab creates video, images, voiceover with several speakers and music, animates a still, and transforms a clip: upscale, remove the background, lip sync, dub into another language, swap a face, extend a shot or change the voice. Generation and transcription draw on credits; cutting, effects, finishing and export do not.

### Can I start from a competitor's ad?

Yes. A competitor ad can be added as reference media, and the editor breaks it down shot by shot, so you can work from its structure: where the hook lands, how long each shot holds, and where the offer appears.

### What does it do for sound?

Volume and fades with keyframes, voice clean-up presets, automatic ducking of music under speech, beat and tempo detection for cutting on the beat, sound effects on moments, and a loudness meter. Export can be loudness-normalised to -14 LUFS for social or -23 LUFS for broadcast, with a true-peak limiter so the ad does not clip on a phone speaker.

### What effects and transitions are there?

Around forty transitions, from slides, whips and zooms to glitch, ink and film burn, and over twenty effects including colour wheels, curves, blur, glow, grain, RGB split and halftone. Colour looks and LUTs can be applied, a .cube LUT imported, and a clip's colour matched to a reference. Motion presets cover entrances, exits, punch-ins and shake.

### How do I get clips from the production canvas into the editor?

Select the nodes on the canvas and choose Open in video editor. Each selected node becomes a clip, in reading order, on a new project. When the cut is exported you can send it back to the canvas as a node, where it can be dubbed, lip-synced, upscaled or built into a Meta ad.

### What formats does it export?

MP4 (H.264) or WebM, at four quality levels, with a preset for Meta ads, one for the smallest file and one for the best quality. The export is saved to the Marxx library. An editable timeline can also be exported for Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, and captions as a subtitle file. Exports run up to five minutes, at up to 1080p and 30 frames per second, which covers paid social placements.

### Can my team work on the same project?

Projects belong to a client workspace. The owner edits, and the rest of the team can open the project read-only, with presence showing who is in it. Projects can be duplicated, archived and restored.

### Do I need to install anything?

No. The editor runs in a desktop browser and uses your Marxx sign-in, so there is no download and no second login. On a phone it opens a player for the finished cut rather than the editor, because a timeline does not fit on a phone screen.

### Is the video editor on every plan?

The editor is turned on per workspace. Book a demo and we will switch it on for yours and show it on your own footage.
