Accounts Center is Meta's settings page for linked accounts. Meta says it is where you manage connected experiences, such as logging in across your accounts, and shared settings such as contact details, ad preferences and payments. You can add Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Meta accounts to the same Accounts Center ([Meta Help Centre](https://www.meta.com/en-gb/help/accounts-center/), checked 2026-10-20).

Meta is gradually moving people to Meta Accounts. You may see either "Accounts Center" or "Meta Account settings", depending on your account.

## It is not your ad account

Many advertisers mix these up. They are separate things.

| | Holds | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Accounts Center | Your linked personal and brand accounts | Sign-in and shared settings |
| Business portfolio | Your Pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts and the people who access them, in one place | Running the business side |
| Ad account | Your campaigns, ads and billing information | Creating and paying for ads |

Meta says a business portfolio brings your Pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts and other assets together, so you can manage them and the people who access them from one place. It describes an ad account as a grouping of all your ads activity, with your campaigns, ads and billing information (Meta Help Centre, checked 2026-10-20).

## A worked example

Say you run a candle brand. Your personal Facebook, the brand's Instagram and its WhatsApp Business number sit in one Accounts Center. That gives you shared sign-in and one place for settings.

The brand's Page, Instagram account, ad account and product catalog sit in the business portfolio. When an agency needs to run ads, you give it access to the ad account inside the portfolio. You do not share your personal Accounts Center.

## What to check as an advertiser

- **Who is in the portfolio.** Remove people who left.
- **Which Page and Instagram account each ad uses.** You set this in the ad's Identity section.
- **Your payment and tax details.** For India, see [GST on Meta ads](/glossary/gst-on-facebook-ads).
- **Linked WhatsApp numbers,** if you run [click-to-WhatsApp ads](/glossary/click-to-whatsapp-ads).

To decide between boosting and full ads on Instagram, see [Instagram ads vs boosted posts](/compare/instagram-ads-vs-boosted-posts).

## FAQ

### Is Accounts Center the same as Business Manager?

No. Accounts Center links accounts for sign-in and shared settings. A business portfolio, in Meta Business Suite, holds your business assets.

### Do I need Accounts Center to run ads?

Not for the ads themselves. Meta's steps for creating Instagram ads ask for a Facebook Page or a connected Instagram professional account (checked 2026-10-20). Accounts Center is a separate settings hub for linked accounts.

### Can Meta restrict more than the ad account?

Yes. Meta says an ad account restriction can also apply to a business portfolio, a Page or a personal profile.
