Advantage+ audience lets Meta's AI find the people for your ad campaign, instead of you defining the audience yourself ([Meta Business Help Center](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/273363992030035), checked 2026-10-20). You can give it hints, and you can set hard limits it must not cross.

## How it decides

Meta says its AI uses many signals, such as past conversions, Meta pixel data and people's interactions with earlier ads. It keeps learning as the campaign runs.

## Controls and suggestions

You get two tools, and they behave differently.

| | Audience controls | Audience suggestions |
|---|---|---|
| What they do | Limit who can see your ads | Guide Meta, but do not fence it in |
| You can set | Locations, minimum age, custom audiences to exclude, languages | Age, gender, detailed targeting, custom audiences |
| Hard limit? | Yes | No |

Locations hold firm unless you tick **Reach more people likely to respond to your ads**. Meta gives this example of a suggestion: if you suggest the gender Women, your ads could still reach men if Meta's AI finds them likely to respond. If reaching one group matters more than performance, choose **Further limit your audience** so it becomes a control ([Meta Business Help Center](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/938372127764391), checked 2026-10-20).

## A worked example

Say a skincare brand wants women 25 to 40 in India. It runs two ad sets at INR 3,000 a day for 14 days, with the same ads.

| | Manual interests | Advantage+ audience |
|---|---|---|
| Spend | INR 42,000 | INR 42,000 |
| Purchases | 54 | 66 |
| Cost per purchase | INR 778 | INR 636 |

In the Advantage+ set, location is a control and women 25 to 40 is a suggestion. It also sold to a few men. The brand checks if those orders are fine. If not, it moves gender to a control and tests again.

Results differ by account. That is why you test.

## When to use it

Meta recommends testing Advantage+ audience for almost all campaign types. It does not recommend it for retargeting. It is not available for special ad categories such as financial products, employment, housing, or social issues and politics ads (same page).

## FAQ

### Is Advantage+ audience the same as broad targeting?

Close. Advantage+ audience lets you add suggestions that Meta may go beyond. Broad uses only basic limits. Both rely on Meta to find buyers.

### Can I exclude past buyers?

Yes. Add a custom audience to exclude as an audience control.

### Does Advantage+ audience work for retargeting?

Meta does not recommend it for retargeting. Use a normal custom audience for that.
