Advantage+ catalog ads automatically show people the products or services from your catalog that suit their interests, intent and actions online (Meta Help Centre, checked 2026-10-20). Meta used to call them dynamic ads, and the short name DPA means dynamic product ads. Meta's marketing page now says the catalog works across all sales campaigns, not just one ad format, and labels it "Products from your catalog".

## How they work

They look like single image, carousel or collection ads. The products inside change for each person. Meta chooses them using events from your Meta pixel or app SDK, plus signals from Facebook and Instagram.

You can run them on the Sales, App promotion, Engagement, Leads and Traffic objectives.

## What you need first

1. A catalog in Commerce Manager, inside a business portfolio, with your products added.
2. A Meta pixel on your website with the required events, or the Meta SDK in your app.
3. The pixel or SDK connected to the catalog.

Meta's marketing page also lists the Conversions API as a data source. See [Pixel vs Conversions API](/compare/pixel-vs-conversions-api).

## What they are good for

- **Retargeting** people who viewed a product but did not buy.
- **Finding new customers** who have shown interest in what you sell.
- **Cross-selling and upselling** related products.

Meta also lists catalog creative options, such as dynamic overlays, image touch-ups, standard labels and image background generation.

## A worked example

Say a jewellery store has 600 products. One ad per product is not practical. It builds one ad template for a product set, "Under INR 2,000".

It runs a retargeting ad set for 8,000 people who viewed products in the last 30 days. It spends INR 2,000 a day for 7 days, which is INR 14,000. It gets 35 purchases at an average order of INR 1,800.

- Cost per purchase: 14,000 / 35 = **INR 400**
- Revenue: 35 x 1,800 = INR 63,000
- [ROAS](/glossary/roas): 63,000 / 14,000 = **4.5**

## Keep your catalog healthy

Wrong prices or sold-out items waste clicks. Keep prices, stock and images current. Good photos matter, because the catalog is your creative.

## FAQ

### Is DPA the same as Advantage+ catalog ads?

Yes. DPA stands for dynamic product ads, the older name for the same format.

### Do I need a pixel?

Meta requires a data source so it can see what people view and buy. That is a Meta pixel, the app SDK or, per Meta's marketing page, the Conversions API.

### Can I use catalog ads for services?

Meta says they show products or services from your catalog. Check that your catalog type supports what you sell.
