Agentic marketing is marketing work done by AI agents. An agent does more than answer a question. It reads your data, decides the next step, uses tools to take it, and reports back. You set the goal and approve the risky steps.

## A worked example

Say your target cost per purchase is INR 450. Every Monday at 9 am an agent reads the last seven days of your Meta account. It finds 3 of your 12 ads above INR 600.

It posts in Slack: "Pause these 3? They spent INR 21,000 and got 30 purchases." That is INR 700 a purchase. You tap approve. The agent pauses the ads and writes the change to a log.

You did not open Ads Manager. You made the one decision that mattered.

## How agents connect to your tools

Many agents reach your data through [MCP](/glossary/mcp), an open standard that lets an AI assistant use outside tools. ## Rules that keep it safe

1. Start read-only. Let the agent report before it acts.
2. Require approval for anything that spends money or turns ads on.
3. Keep a log of every change.
4. Cap what it can touch, such as one account.

### Is agentic marketing the same as marketing automation?

No. Automation follows fixed rules you wrote, such as "pause if cost is above INR 600". An agent chooses its own steps toward a goal.

### Will agents replace media buyers?

They take over routine checks and reports. Decisions about offers, budgets and brand stay with people.

### Is it safe to give an agent access to my ad account?

Start with read-only access, require approval for changes, and check the log. Give write access only after you trust the results.
