No-code automation means linking apps so that something in one app sets off work in another, without writing code. Zapier, Make and Pabbly Connect are no-code automation tools: "when a new Facebook lead arrives, post it in Slack" is a typical example.

## The parts

- **Trigger:** the event that starts the flow, such as Facebook Lead Ads "New Lead".
- **Action:** what happens next, such as Slack "Send Channel Message".
- **Task or credit:** the unit the tool bills you in. Zapier counts tasks, Make counts credits, and Pabbly Connect counts only actions.
- **Polling:** the tool checks for new data on a timer. Zapier's Free plan checks every 15 minutes. IFTTT's Free plan checks for new Facebook leads every hour.
- **Instant:** the source app tells the tool the moment something happens, often through a webhook, a link one app calls to send data to another.

## The formula

Monthly tasks = leads per month x action steps per lead

## A worked example

Say you get 600 Meta leads a month. Each lead does two things: post to Slack and add a row to a Google Sheet.

1. Action steps per lead: 2.
2. Monthly tasks: 600 x 2 = 1,200.
3. On Pabbly Connect, which does not count the trigger, that is 1,200 tasks. Its free plan gives 100, so you need Standard, shown at INR 1,138 a month for 10,000 tasks (checked 6 Nov 2026).
4. If a tool also counted the trigger, it would be 600 x 3 = 1,800 units.

Always check how your tool counts before you pick a plan.

## What good looks like

- Every lead reaches the right place, every time, with nothing typed by hand.
- The wait between a lead arriving and the alert is short enough for your team to call fast. See [speed to lead](/glossary/speed-to-lead).
- Someone owns each flow and checks it after any form change.

## How to make it reliable

1. Test with a fake lead from the [Facebook Lead Ads Testing Tool](/guides/how-to-use-the-facebook-lead-ads-testing-tool).
2. Name each flow after the client and form it serves.
3. Post the minimum to shared channels. Keep phone numbers in the tool where the lead lives.

## FAQ

### Is no-code automation free?

Most tools have a free plan. Zapier gives 100 tasks a month and Make gives 1,000 credits (checked 6 Nov 2026).

### What is the difference between polling and instant?

Polling checks on a timer, so a lead waits until the next check. Instant means the source app pushes the event the moment it happens.
