Hinglish is Hindi, often mixed with English words, written in Roman letters. Captions (by Mirage) lists Hinglish in its help centre, and for other tools you generate Hindi captions, then retype them in Roman letters (checked 3 Nov 2026).

## Which tools list it

Checked 3 Nov 2026. "Not listed" means the tool's own pages do not name Hinglish.

| Tool | Hindi captions | Hinglish |
|---|---|---|
| Captions | Yes | Listed in its help centre |
| Submagic | Yes | Not listed |
| ZapCap | Yes, in Devanagari | Not listed |
| VEED | Hindi named in its translation FAQ | Not listed |
| Descript | Hindi, marked Beta | Not listed |
| Canva | Hindi is one of 57 spoken languages | Not listed |
| KineMaster | Yes, among 36 languages | Not listed |
| OpusClip | Its help article says no Hindi at this time, though its marketing pages list it | Not listed |

Final Cut Pro's Generate Captions works in U.S. English only. Meta's automatic captions in Ads Manager are English only. Neither can make Hinglish for you.

## Steps for any tool

1. Pick the route. Use a tool that lists Hinglish, or one that lists Hindi.
2. Set the spoken language to Hindi and generate captions.
3. Read every line. Where the tool wrote Devanagari, retype the words in Roman letters.
4. Choose one spelling and use it all through. Pick "mein" or "me", not both.
5. Fix brand names, prices and INR amounts.
6. Burn the captions in, or save an SRT file. Meta's file-name rule is in [how to add captions to video ads](/guides/how-to-add-captions-to-video-ads).

## A worked example

Say your 20-second ad sells a steel flask for INR 999. You write the Hinglish yourself and save it as an SRT file:

```
1
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:02,500
Chai thandi ho gayi?
2
00:00:02,500 --> 00:00:06,000
Is Diwali, INR 999 mein dekhiye hamari steel flask.
```

The file is plain text, so you can fix a word in seconds. See [how to make an SRT file](/guides/how-to-make-an-srt-file) for the full format.

If you write or fix the file elsewhere, [Marxx's AI video editor](/features/ai-video-editor) imports SRT, VTT and ASS files, and you can restyle or retime each word. We make Marxx.

## Keep it readable

- Keep each caption to one or two short lines.
- Put the price on screen as a digit with the INR sign, not as words.
- Test Roman Hinglish against Devanagari on the same ad. Your viewers decide which they read faster.
- Edits by Instagram added Devanagari fonts on 28 Nov 2025, but Instagram does not list its caption languages.

To speak Hindi in the ad, not only caption it, see [how to dub ads into Hindi](/guides/how-to-dub-ads-into-hindi). For other tools, see [best auto caption generators](/best/best-auto-caption-generators) and [Captions app pricing](/prices/captions-app-pricing).

## FAQ

### Is Hinglish the same as Hindi captions?

No. Hindi captions are usually in Devanagari script. Hinglish uses Roman letters, the way people type Hindi on a phone.

### Can Meta make Hinglish captions automatically?

No. Meta's automatic captions are English only (checked 3 Nov 2026). Upload your own .srt file, or burn the captions into the video.

### Should I use Hinglish or Devanagari?

Test both on one ad. Make two versions and compare hold rate. Only the caption script changed, so the gap is the script.
