To ask AI about your Facebook ads in Slack, add an AI bot that can read your ad account to the client's channel, then mention it with your question, such as "@Marxx how did our Meta ads do last week?". The bot replies in a thread with numbers from the account, and you reply in that same thread to keep going.

## What you need first

- **A tool that reads your ad account and lives in Slack.** Marxx, Runneth, Polar Operator and Markifact all do this in different ways. We make Marxx.
- **One Slack channel per client.** The bot uses the channel to know whose account you mean.
- **Your own access to that client** in the tool. The answer is limited to what you can see.

## Ask Marxx in five steps

1. In Marxx, open **Settings -> Integrations** and connect Slack. Press **Manage**.
2. Pick a **Default channel** for the client you are working in.
3. In Slack, add **@Marxx** to that channel.
4. Type your question with the mention: "@Marxx which Meta ad had the lowest cost per lead this month?"
5. Read the answer in the thread. Reply in the thread to ask a follow-up. No new mention is needed once Slack is reconnected (see the FAQ).

Marxx answers from that client's data in Marxx: Meta and Google Ads results, account audits, tracked competitors, tracked keywords and sector trends. It answers as you, so it only uses what you can open in Marxx. See [Marxx in Slack](/features/slack) for the full feature.

## What an answer looks like

Say Priya Shah asks about Northwind Escapes, a made-up travel client. The reply in the thread reads:

| Line | What it says |
|---|---|
| Period | Meta ads, 26 Oct to 1 Nov |
| Spend | INR 84,200, down 6% on the week before |
| Leads | 212 at INR 397 each (week before INR 441) |
| Top ad | Monsoon reel 02 at INR 311 a lead |
| Watch | Goa retargeting's cost per lead up 58% over 3 days |
| Footer | AI-generated by Marxx - 12 credits |

The footer shows the credits the answer used. They come from your organisation's balance.

## Limits to know

| Rule | What it means |
|---|---|
| 6 questions per 10 minutes | Per person. Wait a few minutes if you hit it |
| Daily limit per organisation | One cap for the whole team |
| One client per channel | Marxx does not answer in channels two clients share |
| No DMs | Ask in the client's channel, not a direct message |
| No shared channels | Channels shared with other companies get no answer |
| 7 days | Marxx deletes the question and answer 7 days after the thread's last message |
| Changes | Marxx can draft a change for you to review in Marxx, if ad changes are on for that client. It never changes ads from Slack |

## Other ways to do it

- **Runneth.** Built by the team behind Motion. Tag @Runneth in any channel it has been added to and it replies in a thread. It can also post scheduled updates on its own. Motion's help suggests keeping Runneth on internal channels, not client channels. Starter starts at $999 a month (checked 6 Nov 2026). See [Runneth vs Marxx](/compare/runneth-vs-marxx).
- **Polar Operator.** The Slack agent from [Polar Analytics](https://www.polaranalytics.com), a Shopify-focused data platform. It works with Meta, Google Ads, Amazon Ads, Klaviyo and Google Sheets, and answers in mentions and DMs. Plan prices are not listed publicly.
- **Markifact.** Has a Meta Ads AI Slack Agent template and works in Markifact, Slack or WhatsApp, across 14 ad platforms. Its pro plan is $79 a month (checked 6 Nov 2026).

For a chat app instead of Slack, see [how to connect Meta ads to ChatGPT](/guides/how-to-connect-meta-ads-to-chatgpt).

## Common mistakes

- **Asking in a DM.** The bot has no client to pin the question to.
- **Leaving out the time window.** "Last 7 days" gets a cleaner answer than "recently".
- **Starting a new message for each follow-up.** Stay in the thread so the bot keeps the context.
- **Treating the answer as the final word.** Check any number you will send to a client.

## FAQ

### Do I need to mention @Marxx again in a thread?

Not after a reconnect. If you connected Slack before this update, go to Settings -> Integrations -> Slack -> Manage -> **Reconnect** so Marxx can follow replies. Until then, mention @Marxx in the thread to continue.

### Can people from my client's company ask Marxx?

No. Marxx does not answer in channels shared with other companies, and people from other companies cannot use Marxx buttons.

### How many credits does a question use?

It varies by question. The number shows under every answer, such as "12 credits", and comes from your organisation's balance.

### Can it pause or edit my ads?

Not from Slack. If ad changes are switched on for that client, it can prepare a draft change that you review and apply in Marxx.
