To choose an AI video model for ads, run one brief through three or four models and score them on product accuracy, speech, motion, format and cost per usable clip. Pick on your own test, because rankings go stale.

Models get updated often, so this page names none.

## Start with the job

| Ad job | What matters most |
|---|---|
| Product shot (pour, spin, unbox) | The label, colour and shape stay correct. The camera moves smoothly |
| Creator-style talking video | Natural speech, lip sync and a believable voice |
| A short scene or story | The same person and place across clips |
| Animating a still image | Control, such as starting from your own photo |

## Six tests

Run each model on the same brief and the same starting image.

1. **Product accuracy.** Does the label stay readable and the shape stay true from the first frame to the last?
2. **Motion.** Do hands and faces move naturally, or do they melt and float?
3. **Speech.** If someone talks, does the mouth match the words? Does the voice sound human? If you need Hindi, test that language itself.
4. **Length and format.** Can it make a 9:16 vertical clip, and how many seconds per clip? Short clips mean more stitching.
5. **Control.** Can you start from your own image and repeat a good result?
6. **Cost per usable clip.** Divide everything you spent by the clips you would actually run.

Also read each model's terms for commercial use, and check that your ad follows Meta's and Google's ad rules. Meta labels ad images made or materially edited with its own AI tools. See [how to avoid AI-looking ads](/guides/how-to-avoid-ai-looking-ads).

## A worked example

Say you need five 6-second clips of a INR 1,299 steel bottle. You give three models the same photo and prompt, with 10 tries each.

| Model | Cost per try | Spend on 10 tries | Usable clips | Cost per usable clip |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | INR 40 | INR 400 | 3 | INR 133 |
| B | INR 90 | INR 900 | 6 | INR 150 |
| C | INR 25 | INR 250 | 1 | INR 250 |

Model C looks cheapest per try but is the worst per usable clip. Model A is cheapest per usable clip. Model B hits most often, which saves you retries and time. Pick A if you have time to retry, or B if you are short of it.

## Mix models, not just pick one

One model may be best for product shots and another for talking heads. Keep a short list by ad job and retest each quarter. For realistic creators, compare the AI result with real footage in [AI UGC vs human UGC](/compare/ai-ugc-vs-human-ugc). To decide whether video is worth the effort at all, see [static ads vs video ads](/compare/static-ads-vs-video-ads).

## Mistakes to avoid

- **Choosing from a demo reel.** Demos show the best of many tries.
- **Judging from one prompt.** Test at least three briefs.
- **Ignoring the cost of retries.**
- **Forgetting sound.** A good clip with a flat voice still reads as fake.
- **Skipping the Hindi test.** If you need other languages, see [how to dub ads into Hindi](/guides/how-to-dub-ads-into-hindi).

We make Marxx. Its [production canvas](/features/production-canvas) covers image, video, voice, dubbing, avatars and UGC, and publishes campaigns, ad sets and ads to Meta.

## FAQ

### Which AI video model is best for ads?

No single model wins every job. Test each one on your own product and brief, and pick by cost per usable clip.

### How many tries should I give each model?

Ten per brief is a fair start. Fewer than that, one lucky or unlucky run decides your answer.

### Can I run AI video ads on Meta?

Yes, subject to Meta's ad policies. Meta labels some ads made with its own AI tools, so make ads you are happy to see labelled.
