You choose what Marxx sends to Slack under **Settings -> Integrations -> Slack -> Manage**, in the **What goes to Slack** list for each client. Switch each of the seven messages on or off, and send any of them to a different channel from the client's default.

## The seven messages

| Message | What it sends | Default to know |
|---|---|---|
| **New leads** | One message per new lead from Meta lead forms | Off for clients that existed before the update |
| **Alerts** | Your triggered alerts | Each alert also needs Slack switched on in the alert itself |
| **Ad account connection problems** | Says when an ad account needs reconnecting | Always on |
| **Competitor new ads digest** | New ads from competitors you track | Off for clients that existed before the update |
| **Keyword new ads digest** | New ads for keywords you track | Off for clients that existed before the update |
| **Weekly sector trends** | What is trending in your sector this week | Off for clients that existed before the update |
| **Moodboard digest** | New ads that match your moodboards | Off unless you switch it on |

"Before the update" means you connected Slack before Marxx in Slack launched on 6 Nov 2026. We make Marxx, and the [Marxx in Slack page](/features/slack) describes each message in more detail.

## Step by step

1. In Marxx, go to **Settings -> Integrations -> Slack** and press **Manage**.
2. Pick the client you are working in.
3. Check the **Default channel**. Everything goes there unless you change it.
4. In **What goes to Slack**, switch on the messages this client needs.
5. For any message that needs its own room, pick a different channel next to it.
6. In Slack, add **@Marxx** to every channel you picked.
7. Move to the next client. Each client's settings are its own.

## Three ways to lay out the channels

Say you run Northwind Escapes. Pick the layout that matches who reads what:

1. **One channel for everything.** All messages go to `#northwind-ads`. Good for a small client with a handful of leads a week.
2. **Leads apart.** New leads go to `#northwind-leads`, where the sales callers sit. Alerts, digests and connection problems stay in `#northwind-ads` for the ad team.
3. **Leads, ads and creative apart.** Leads to `#northwind-leads`. Alerts and connection problems to `#northwind-ads`. The competitor, keyword and moodboard digests and weekly sector trends to `#northwind-creative`, where the designers and writers sit.

Layout 3 suits agencies with separate media and creative teams. For more on that, see [competitor ads in Slack](/guides/how-to-get-competitor-ads-in-slack) and [Meta ads alerts in Slack](/guides/how-to-set-up-meta-ads-alerts-in-slack).

## Settings worth a second look

- **Alerts need two switches.** **Alerts** must be on here, and each alert must have Slack switched on in Marxx's Alerts screen. If an alert never reaches Slack, check the second switch.
- **Connection problems cannot be switched off.** Pick its channel with care, because the person who can reconnect the ad account needs to see it.
- **Contact details are a separate switch.** **Include name and contact details** is off by default. Leave it off in channels with many members or people from other companies.
- **Digests show up to three ads per brand,** with **View in Marxx** for the rest, and a **Save** button that saves an ad to the client's default board.

Competitor and keyword digests draw on the brands and keywords you follow in [competitor tracking](/features/competitor-tracking).

## FAQ

### Can I turn off the connection problems message?

No. It is always on, because it tells you when an ad account needs to be reconnected.

### Why are my competitor digests not arriving?

If the client existed before the update, the digest stays off until you switch it on. Also check that @Marxx is in the channel you picked.

### Can one message go to two channels?

The settings give each message one channel per client: the default, or another one you pick.
