In Marxx, go to **Settings -> Integrations**, connect Slack, then open **Manage** to pick each client's **Default channel** and choose what goes to Slack. Finish by adding **@Marxx** to those channels in Slack, and repeat the channel settings for each client.

## What you get once it is connected

Marxx in Slack brings leads, alerts and competitor updates into each client's own Slack channel. People act on them from Slack, and anyone can ask Marxx a question about a client by mentioning @Marxx in that client's channel. The [Marxx in Slack page](/features/slack) has the overview. We make Marxx.

## Before you start

- **A Slack workspace where you can add apps.** On Slack's Free plan you can add up to 10 apps; Pro has no app limit. See [Slack pricing](/prices/slack-pricing).
- **Your client channels.** Create them first, for example `#northwind-ads`. A naming pattern helps, see [Slack channel naming for agencies](/templates/slack-channel-naming-conventions-for-agencies).
- **Access to the client in Marxx.** You set Slack up per client, from inside that client.

## Step by step

1. In Marxx, go to **Settings -> Integrations** and connect Slack.
2. Open the Slack settings with **Manage**.
3. Pick a **Default channel** for the client you are working in. Every Marxx message for that client goes there unless you say otherwise.
4. Under **What goes to Slack**, switch each message on or off, and send any of them to a different channel if you like.
5. In Slack, add **@Marxx** to every channel you picked. If Marxx cannot post somewhere, the Slack settings say which channel to add it to.
6. Switch to the next client and repeat steps 3 and 4. Each client's settings are its own.

## What each part of the settings does

| Setting | What it decides |
|---|---|
| **Default channel** | Where every message for this client goes, unless you override it |
| **What goes to Slack** | Which of the seven message types are on, and which channel each one uses |
| **Your Slack account** | Whether your Slack buttons act as you. Holds **Unlink** |
| **Reconnect** | Refreshes an older connection so Marxx can follow replies in threads |
| **Disconnect** | Removes Slack from Marxx |

The seven message types are new leads, alerts, ad account connection problems, competitor new-ads digest, keyword new-ads digest, weekly sector trends and moodboard digest. Each client keeps its own choices, as part of its [client workspace](/features/client-workspaces).

## If you connected Slack before this update

Two things to do:

1. **Press Reconnect.** Go to **Settings -> Integrations -> Slack -> Manage** and press **Reconnect**, so Marxx can follow replies in threads when you ask it questions. Until then, mention @Marxx again in the thread to continue a conversation.
2. **Switch on the new messages.** For existing clients, **New leads**, the two new-ads digests and weekly sector trends stay off until you switch them on.

## Check it works

- **Leads.** Send a test lead to one of the client's Meta lead forms and watch the channel.
- **Questions.** In the client's channel, type "@Marxx how did our Meta ads do last week?" Marxx answers in the thread from that client's data in Marxx. Each answer uses credits from your organisation's balance, shown under the answer.
- **Buttons.** Press any button on a message. The first time, you link your Slack account once.

For alerts, see [how to set up Meta ads alerts in Slack](/guides/how-to-set-up-meta-ads-alerts-in-slack).

## FAQ

### Do I connect Slack once or once per client?

You connect Slack in **Settings -> Integrations**, then set the default channel and messages for each client separately.

### Why does Marxx not post in my channel?

@Marxx is probably not in that channel. The Slack settings name the channel it needs. Invite @Marxx there.

### Will @Marxx answer in a direct message?

No. Ask in a channel that belongs to one client. Marxx does not answer in direct messages, in channels two clients share, or in channels shared with other companies.
