To dub an ad into Hindi, write the Hindi script for how people speak, run the video through an AI dubbing tool that supports Hindi, and fix the on-screen text. Have a native speaker check it before you spend, then test the dub against your original.

Check that your tool supports Hindi. ElevenLabs, for one, lists Hindi (code `hi`) among the languages its dubbing supports ([language list](https://elevenlabs.io/docs/help-center/product/dubbing/which-languages-are-supported-in-dubbing), checked 2026-10-20). Other tools differ, so check yours.

## Steps

1. **Start with a clean source.** Pick a video with a clear voice and little music over the speech. Text burned into the picture will not change, so plan to redo it.
2. **Write the Hindi script yourself.** Choose the register that your buyer uses: formal Hindi, everyday Hindi, or Hinglish, which is Hindi with English words. Keep sentences short. Keep brand names, prices and numbers exactly as they are.
3. **Dub.** Upload the video, set the target language to Hindi, and edit the script if the tool lets you. If it only translates automatically, read the result closely.
4. **Check the timing.** Make sure each line still fits its cut. If a Hindi line runs long, shorten the sentence, not the speed.
5. **Fix the on-screen text and captions.** Redo them in Devanagari or Roman Hindi to match how your buyers read. Redo the first-frame hook text first.
6. **Get a native review.** Ask a Hindi speaker to check tone, pronunciation of your brand and product names, and numbers. They will also spot lines that sound translated.
7. **Test it.** Run the English and Hindi versions to the same audience, with the same budget, for a week. Compare [hook rate](/glossary/hook-rate) and cost per result.

## A worked example

Say you sell a INR 1,299 steel lunch box and run a 30-second English ad at INR 1,500 a day. You dub it into Hindi, fix the captions and run it at INR 1,500 a day to the same audience for 7 days.

| Version | Hook rate | Cost per purchase |
|---|---|---|
| English original | 24% | INR 520 |
| Hindi dub | 33% | INR 410 |

The Hindi version costs 21% less per purchase, since INR 110 is about a fifth of INR 520. That is one test. Repeat it on a second ad before you dub your whole library.

## Mistakes to avoid

- **Translating word for word.** It sounds stiff and gives the dub away.
- **Leaving English text on screen.** The voice speaks Hindi and the captions do not.
- **Mismatching the voice.** Keep the speaker's age and tone close to the original.
- **Skipping the native check.** One wrong word can undo the ad.
- **Cloning a real person's voice without their permission.**
- **Judging after one day.** Give the test a full week.

Dubbed ads can still sound synthetic. For fixes, see [how to avoid AI-looking ads](/guides/how-to-avoid-ai-looking-ads). If you are building ads from scratch with AI video, read [how to choose an AI video model for ads](/guides/how-to-choose-an-ai-video-model-for-ads). To compare creator-style options, see [AI UGC vs human UGC](/compare/ai-ugc-vs-human-ugc). If a Hindi creator will speak for you instead, use the [UGC script template](/templates/ugc-script-template).

## FAQ

### Which tools dub ads into Hindi?

ElevenLabs lists Hindi for dubbing (checked 2026-10-20). Other tools differ, so test yours on a short clip and ask a native speaker to judge it.

### Should I dub into Hindi or Hinglish?

Use the register your buyers use. Test Hinglish against plain Hindi on your own audience and keep the one that costs less per result.

### Do I need to redo the captions?

Yes. Captions and text on screen stay in the original language unless you change them.
