ChatGPT edits a video when you connect it to an editor through MCP, a standard plug-in for AI assistants. Kapwing and Riverside both name ChatGPT as a supported client, and Blackmagic names ChatGPT Codex for DaVinci Resolve (checked 3 Nov 2026).

## How to connect

1. Open the editor's MCP page and copy its connector address.
2. In your assistant's settings, add the editor as a connector.
3. Sign in to the editor when it asks.
4. Ask for one edit, then open the project in the editor and check it.
5. Check any step that spends credits before you approve it.

## A worked example

Say you upload a 45-second clip to Kapwing and ask the assistant for subtitles and a Hindi translation. Kapwing's connector lists both as tools. You then open the project in Kapwing and read every line, because a connector gives you a first pass, not a finished ad.

## What ChatGPT can write

Without a connector, ChatGPT can still write the text around your edit. Paste your script and ask for what you need:
