You cannot see another brand's sales, but you can see which ads they keep paying for. An ad that has run for months, in many versions, is often one that works. Here is how to find those ads for free.

## Signal 1: run length

Open the brand in the [Meta Ad Library](https://www.facebook.com/ads/library/). Each ad shows "Started running on" with a date. Ads still live after 60 to 90 days are a strong clue. Brands usually switch off ads that lose money.

## Signal 2: many versions

Some ads show "This ad has multiple versions" or appear several times with small changes. A brand making many cuts of one idea is backing it.

## Signal 3: the same idea across formats

If one hook appears as a video, a static and a carousel, the brand found something and is spreading it.

## Signal 4: reused in new campaigns

When an older ad shows up again with a new start date, the brand may have relaunched an ad that worked.

## Signal 5: engagement on the post

The Ad Library does not show comments or likes (checked 2026-10-20). If you also see the ad in your own Facebook or Instagram feed, read its comments. Real questions about price or delivery show people are interested.

## A worked example

You check a rival skincare brand. It has 46 active ads. Group them by start date:

- 31 started in the last two weeks. These are tests.
- 9 started one to two months ago.
- 6 started over three months ago, and 4 of those have multiple versions.

Those last 4 are your winners to study. Note their hook, angle and offer.

## What not to do

- Do not copy the ad. Learn the reason it works and make your own.
- Do not judge on likes alone. Brands can boost engagement.
- Do not trust one signal. Look for two or three together.

## FAQ

### Can I see how much a brand spends on an ad?

Not for most ads in India. Meta shows spend ranges only for ads about social issues, elections or politics. Ads shown in the EU and the UK show reach and targeting, not spend (checked 2026-10-20).

### Is there a faster way?

Some ad intelligence tools track brands for you and let you sort ads by run length. See [what an ad spy tool does](/glossary/ad-spy-tool).
