To fix a restricted ad account, open Business Support Home, pick the account under Account status overview and follow the steps in "What you can do". An admin can then request a review, which Meta says typically takes 48 hours but can take longer.

Steps below follow Meta's pages on [troubleshooting a restricted account](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/422289316306981) and [requesting a review](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/530209463124901), checked 2026-10-20. For the plain meaning of a restriction, see [what an ad account restriction is](/glossary/ad-account-restricted).

## Steps

1. **Open Business Support Home** on a computer. Click **Account status overview** and click the restricted account.
2. **Read "What you can do".** Meta shows only the steps that apply to your account. They can include confirming your identity, completing verification, securing your account and requesting a review.
3. **Confirm your identity if asked.** "Confirm your identity" is one of the steps Meta may show. Follow the on-screen instructions.
4. **Secure the account if asked.** Meta says advertisers may need two-factor authentication to publish ads, including on business portfolios more than 90 days old ([Meta](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/865384580786591), checked 2026-10-20). If Meta asks, turn it on.
5. **Request a review.** You must be an admin. Click **Request review** and follow the screens. Use this when the restriction followed a policy violation and you think it is wrong.
6. **Turn your ads back on.** Ads that ran before the restriction do not restart by themselves. Switch them on in Ads Manager.

## Know the limits

- Meta limits how many times you can request a restriction review. Once a review is done, the decision is final. Asking again does not hurt your standing.
- If an ad account is disabled for a policy violation and stays ineligible for reinstatement for six months, unused prepaid services may be forfeited where the law allows. After that the account cannot be reinstated.
- Do not open a new account to get round it. Meta's [Account Integrity standard](https://transparency.meta.com/policies/community-standards/account-integrity/) says it may restrict or disable ad accounts that were created or repurposed to evade an earlier removal, or that are owned by the same person or entity as a disabled account (checked 2026-10-20).

## Match the screen to the fix

| What Business Support Home shows | What to do |
|---|---|
| Confirm your identity | Finish the on-screen steps |
| Complete verification | Finish the verification steps shown |
| Secure your account | Follow the steps shown, such as two-factor authentication |
| Request review | Ask only if you think the restriction is wrong |

If a failed payment caused the problem, see [how to fix a failed Meta ads payment](/guides/how-to-fix-meta-ads-payment-failed). If single ads were rejected, see [how to appeal a rejected Facebook ad](/guides/how-to-appeal-a-rejected-facebook-ad).

## A worked example

Say your 14 ads stop on Monday at 10 am. Business Support Home says "Secure your account". You turn on two-factor authentication at 10:20 and the account is reinstated that day. The 14 ads are still paused. You switch them on in Ads Manager and check delivery an hour later.

In a second case, the screen shows "Request review" after a policy violation. You fix the flagged ads on Monday, request the review on Tuesday and get the decision on Thursday. You only have a few reviews, so you fix the cause first.

## Mistakes to avoid

- Requesting a review before you finish the steps Meta asks for
- Using a login that is not an admin
- Forgetting to switch ads back on
- Opening a second account while the first is under review

Before your next launch, run the [Meta ads launch checklist](/templates/launch-checklist-for-meta-ads) and an [account audit](/guides/how-to-audit-a-meta-ad-account).

## FAQ

### How long does a restriction review take?

Meta says it typically takes 48 hours, though it may take longer in some cases.

### Can I request a review more than once?

Only a limited number of times, and the decision after a review is final. Fix the cause before you ask.

### Why is there no Request review button?

Meta shows only the steps that apply to your account, and only admins can request a review. Check "What you can do" and the other steps first.
