Fix ad fatigue by first confirming it is fatigue, then replacing the tired ad with genuinely different creative, not small edits. Keep several ads live so no single one carries the campaign.

## Step 1: confirm it is fatigue

Check these over 7 to 14 days at a steady budget:

- Frequency up
- CTR down
- Cost per result up

If CTR is steady but cost per result is up, the problem may be the landing page, the offer or tracking instead.

## Step 2: refresh with real variety

Change at least one of these:

| Change | Example |
|---|---|
| Angle | From "saves time" to "saves money" |
| Hook | A new first three seconds |
| Person | A different creator or voice |
| Format | From UGC video to a static review card |

Meta's own advice is a new creative that is materially different from the original. A new background colour on the same ad does not meet that bar.

## Step 3: rotate instead of relying on one winner

Keep a few distinct ads live per ad set. When one tires, the others carry spend while you make the next. Meta warns that too many ads at once means each ad delivers less often.

## Step 4: widen the audience

If the audience is small, more people means each person sees the ad less often. Test a broad audience against your current one.

## Step 5: set an early warning

Each week, list ads whose [hook rate](/glossary/hook-rate) or CTR fell more than a fifth from their first week. Brief replacements for those now, before cost moves.

## A worked example

Say a course seller's best ad climbs from INR 600 to INR 950 per sale over four weeks, with frequency at 4.2. It launches three new ads: a student testimonial, a static with a syllabus snapshot and a founder video on a new angle. Two weeks later the old ad gets a third of the budget, and blended cost per sale is back to INR 640.

## FAQ

### Should I turn the tired ad off?

Not always at once. Meta says keeping the original ad live, instead of pausing it, may maximise results. Let new ads take over, then turn it off when its cost per result stays above target for a week.

### Can I bring a tired ad back later?

Yes, as a small test. Meta's fatigue check looks at recent views of the same ad, so a rest lowers that count.
