There are two ways to get a Slack message for every new Facebook lead form lead: a tool with a built-in Slack connection, such as Marxx, or an automation tool like Zapier or Make that turns a Facebook Lead Ads "New Lead" trigger into a Slack message. The built-in route needs no automation to maintain, and the automation route works with any tool you already use.

## The two routes compared

| | Built-in (Marxx in Slack) | Automation (Zapier or Make) |
|---|---|---|
| Where you set it up | Settings -> Integrations -> Slack in Marxx | A Zap or scenario: Facebook Lead Ads "New Lead" to a Slack message |
| What the message shows | Client, form, ad, campaign and time. Contact details only if you switch them on | Whatever fields you map |
| Act from Slack | **Mark contacted** and **Add note** buttons | Only if you build it |
| Cost | Part of your Marxx plan, see [pricing](/pricing) | Zapier Free has 100 tasks a month. Professional is $19.99/month billed annually (checked 6 Nov 2026) |
| Old leads | Never posts leads older than 7 days | Depends on how you build it |

We make Marxx. For a wider list of tools, see the [best tools to send Facebook leads to Slack](/best/best-tools-to-send-facebook-leads-to-slack).

## Route 1: Marxx in Slack

1. In Marxx, go to **Settings -> Integrations** and connect Slack. Open its settings with **Manage**.
2. Pick the client you are working in, then choose its **Default channel**, for example `#northwind-escapes`.
3. Under **What goes to Slack**, switch on **New leads**. To keep leads apart from alerts, send them to a different channel, such as `#northwind-leads`.
4. Leave **Include name and contact details** off unless everyone in the channel should see phone numbers.
5. In Slack, add **@Marxx** to each channel you picked. You can type `/invite @Marxx` in the channel. If Marxx cannot post somewhere, the Slack settings in Marxx say which channel to add it to.
6. Repeat steps 2 to 4 for each client. Each client's settings are its own.

If you connected Slack before this update, **New leads** stays off for existing clients until you switch it on.

## What the lead message shows

Marxx posts each new Meta lead form lead in that client's channel within moments. By default the message is a pointer, not a copy:

- the client, the form, the ad and the campaign
- the time the lead arrived
- an **Open lead in Marxx** button, and the line "Contact details are hidden in Slack"
- **Mark contacted**, which moves the lead to Contacted, and **Add note**, which saves a note on the lead

The first button you press asks you to link your Slack account, once. More on the [Marxx in Slack feature page](/features/slack) and the [Leads feature](/features/leads).

## Route 2: Zapier or Make

1. In Zapier, create a Zap with the Facebook Lead Ads trigger **New Lead**.
2. Pick your Page and lead form.
3. Add the Slack action **Send Channel Message** and pick the channel.
4. Map the fields you want. Leave out phone and email if the channel is large or shared.
5. Send a test lead with Meta's [Lead Ads Testing Tool](/guides/how-to-use-the-facebook-lead-ads-testing-tool).

On Zapier, how often a Zap checks for new data depends on the plan: every 15 minutes on Free, 2 minutes on Professional and 1 minute on Team (checked 6 Nov 2026). Make's Facebook Lead Ads app has "New Lead" and "Watch Leads" triggers, and Make has a Slack app. Its prices did not display when we checked, so see make.com/en/pricing.

## Limits worth knowing

- **7-day rule.** Marxx never posts leads older than 7 days, so reconnecting an ad account does not flood the channel.
- **Rush cap.** In a rush, Marxx posts up to 20 lead messages per client every 10 minutes. Every lead is still in Marxx.
- **Slack's own limit.** Slack lets an app post about one message per second per channel, with short bursts allowed. Any tool you use lives with this.
- **Slack Free.** Slack's Free plan allows up to 10 apps. See [Slack pricing](/prices/slack-pricing).

## Common mistakes

- **@Marxx is not in the channel.** The message has nowhere to go. Invite it.
- **Contact details in a shared channel.** Everyone in the channel sees them once you switch them on, including people from other companies in a Slack Connect channel.

## FAQ

### Can Google Ads lead form leads post to Slack the same way?

Not in Marxx. Its lead messages are for Meta lead forms only. Google lists webhook and Zapier delivery for its lead form assets, and Zapier can post to Slack.

### Do I need Zapier to get Facebook leads in Slack?

No. A tool with a built-in Slack connection posts them directly. Zapier suits teams that also want each lead in a sheet or CRM.

### Who can see the lead in Slack?

Everyone in the channel. With contact details off, they see only the form, ad and campaign.
