To make an AI UGC video, write a short spoken script, choose an AI avatar and voice, generate a 9:16 video, cut in real footage of your product and add captions. Use it to test hooks fast. Do not use it to invent customer results.

Read [what AI UGC is](/glossary/ai-ugc) first if the term is new.

## Steps

1. **Pick the job.** AI UGC suits hook and script testing, explainers and product demos. It does not suit proof from real customers.
2. **Write the script.** Aim for 45 to 60 spoken words for a 20 to 25 second video. Use the structure in the [UGC script template](/templates/ugc-script-template): hook, problem, product in use, proof you really have, call to action.
3. **Choose an avatar.** Match your buyer's age, language and setting. Use a stock avatar from the tool, or a real person's likeness only with their written permission. Compare options in [the best AI avatar tools for ads](/best/best-ai-avatar-tools-for-ads).
4. **Choose the voice.** Pick the language and accent your buyer speaks. Listen for brand names and product terms, which tools often mispronounce.
5. **Generate two or three takes.** Pick the one that looks and sounds most natural.
6. **Cut in real footage.** Show your actual product in use between avatar lines. It keeps the ad honest and hides fewer flaws behind the avatar.
7. **Add captions and sound.** Meta's ad specs mark captions as optional but recommended, and sound as optional but strongly recommended for Reels ([Meta ads guide](https://www.facebook.com/business/ads-guide/update/video/instagram-reels), checked 2026-10-20).
8. **Check the frames.** Look for odd hands, flickering teeth, lip-sync slips and wrong label text.
9. **Label if the rules ask.** See below.

## The rules to follow

- **Meta.** Meta may add an "AI info" label to ads it detects as AI-made. Social issue, election and political ads need your own disclosure ([Meta](https://transparency.meta.com/policies/ad-standards/SIEP-advertising/SIEP/), checked 2026-10-20).
- **ASCI in India.** ASCI's new guidelines list synthetic influencers and ambassadors as a case where a label is mandatory, and fabricated endorsements and testimonials as prohibited even with a label ([ASCI](https://www.ascionline.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Press-Release_Guidelines-for-Responsible-Labelling-of-Synthetically-Generated-Content-in-Advertising.pdf), checked 2026-10-20). The guidelines take effect three months after publication (ASCI's press release is dated 29 September 2026). A label such as "Audio/Video created using AI" is the example ASCI gives.
- **No fake customers.** An avatar must not say "this cleared my skin" as if it were a real customer.

Details are in [how to label AI-generated ads on Meta](/guides/how-to-label-ai-generated-ads-on-meta).

## A worked example

Say you sell a INR 799 hair oil. You write 3 scripts and make each with 2 avatars, so 6 videos. You give each INR 600 a day for three days: 6 x 600 x 3 = INR 10,800.

Two videos hold attention better than the rest. Both use the script that opens with "Is your hair oil just a sticky mess?" You brief a real creator to film that script, and run the human version against the AI one with the same budget. Read [AI UGC vs human UGC](/compare/ai-ugc-vs-human-ugc) for how to compare them fairly.

## Mistakes to avoid

- A script that sounds written, not spoken
- Using one avatar for every product
- An avatar that plays a real customer
- Copying a real person's face or voice without consent
- Skipping the label

We make Marxx. It has a production canvas that publishes to Meta. See the [production canvas](/features/production-canvas).

## FAQ

### Does AI UGC work as well as real creators?

It depends on the product and audience. Test an AI version against a human version with the same script, offer and budget.

### Is AI UGC allowed on Meta?

Yes, within Meta's ad standards. Meta may label it. You still cannot make false claims.

### Can I clone a creator's face or voice?

Only with their written permission. ASCI lists using a person's likeness without consent as prohibited.
