To make an AI avatar ad, write a short script in your buyer's words, pick a licensed avatar and a matching voice, generate the video, then check the lip sync and add real shots of your product. Label it as AI. India's ad regulator ASCI lists synthetic influencers and ambassadors among the uses that need a label.

## Step 1: write a short script

Plan 40 to 50 words for 20 seconds of speech. Use four beats: the hook, the problem, the product and one call to action. Write it the way a person talks, with short sentences.

## Step 2: pick the avatar

Choose a stock avatar from your tool, or a custom avatar of a real person. If it is a real person, such as your founder, get their written consent first. ASCI prohibits using a person's likeness without consent. Pick an avatar that fits your buyer, in age, dress and setting. See [what an AI avatar is](/glossary/ai-avatar).

## Step 3: pick the voice

Match the voice to the language and accent of your buyer. If you sell in Hindi, test the Hindi voice itself, not just the English one. Read the script aloud first and fix any line that sounds stiff.

## Step 4: generate and check lip sync

Watch the mouth against the words, with the sound on. Look at the teeth, the pauses and the eyes. Regenerate the lines that slip. See [AI lip sync](/glossary/ai-lip-sync).

## Step 5: add real product shots

Avatars rarely hold your product convincingly. Cut away to real footage or photos of the actual product in use, and add price, offer and logo as real text in your editor.

## Step 6: label it and check claims

ASCI released guidelines on 29 September 2026 that take effect three months after publication (ASCI, checked 2026-10-20). They list synthetically generated influencers and ambassadors under "labelling required", with labels such as "Audio/Video created using AI". They also prohibit fabricated endorsements or testimonials, and deepfakes, even with a label. An avatar must never claim it used your product. Read [how to label AI-generated ads on Meta](/guides/how-to-label-ai-generated-ads-on-meta).

## A worked example

Here is a 22-second script we wrote for a INR 799 protein bar.

| Time | Line |
|---|---|
| 0 to 3 s | "Skipping breakfast again? Your 11 am slump is why." |
| 3 to 10 s | "A protein bar should not taste like chalk or cost INR 150." |
| 10 to 18 s | "This one has 12 grams of protein, real oats and costs INR 67 a bar." |
| 18 to 22 s | "Pack of twelve, INR 799. Tap to order." |

It is 41 words. The avatar speaks, and real footage of the pack and a bite plays under lines two and three. Test it against a human UGC version at the same budget. Say the avatar version costs INR 430 per purchase and the human one INR 380. The gap tells you what the avatar's convenience costs you. The numbers are made up.

## Mistakes to avoid

- Using a real person's face or voice without consent
- Letting the avatar give a personal testimonial
- Skipping the lip sync check
- Using one avatar for every ad
- Claiming facts the product cannot back up

See [how to avoid AI-looking ads](/guides/how-to-avoid-ai-looking-ads) for eight fixes. To weigh the format, read [AI UGC vs human UGC](/compare/ai-ugc-vs-human-ugc). We make Marxx, whose production canvas publishes to Meta.

## FAQ

### Do I need to label an AI avatar ad?

In India, ASCI's guidelines list synthetic influencers and ambassadors as needing a label once they take effect. When unsure, add one.

### Can I use my founder as an avatar?

Yes, with their written consent. ASCI also lists replicating a real person's likeness or voice for personalised messages as needing a label, even with consent.

### Do AI avatar ads work?

Sometimes. Test them against human UGC on the same product and budget, and compare cost per purchase.
