Hormozi-style captions show one to three large, bold words at a time, with the word being spoken highlighted in a bright colour. Generate captions, set them to one word or a short phrase, then style them and keep them above the app's buttons.

## Pick a tool

| Tool | How to get the look |
|---|---|
| Premiere Pro | In Create captions, open Captioning Preferences, then Layout, then choose Single Word. Style it in the Properties panel |
| Final Cut Pro | Generate Captions > Subtitles, then in the inspector set Animation Style to Highlight or Fill and Animate By to Word |
| Canva | Select the captions, choose Animate, and pick Highlight, Reveal or Snake under Captions |

Final Cut Pro's Generate Captions needs a Mac with Apple silicon and works in U.S. English only. Premiere Pro (now called Adobe Premiere) is a subscription app. For the full menu paths, see [Premiere Pro auto captions](/guides/how-to-add-auto-captions-in-premiere-pro) and [captions in Canva](/guides/how-to-add-captions-in-canva).

CapCut offers caption templates and fonts. CapCut is not officially available in India: it is not on the Indian App Store, and its pricing page shows no plans to visitors from India (checked 3 Nov 2026).

## The six steps

1. Generate captions from the audio. Check names, prices and INR amounts.
2. Set the layout to one word or a short chunk of up to three words.
3. Pick a heavy sans-serif font in a large size, with strong contrast against the picture.
4. Highlight the spoken word in one accent colour. Emphasise numbers and offers.
5. Place the captions inside the safe zone. On Reels, leave about 35% at the bottom clear.
6. Watch it on a phone and trim any caption that lags the speaker.

## A worked example

Say the speaker says: "Stop paying INR 500 for every lead." Here is one way to break it up. The timings are made up.

| Time | On screen | Highlighted |
|---|---|---|
| 0.0 to 0.7 s | STOP PAYING | PAYING |
| 0.7 to 1.3 s | INR 500 | INR 500 |
| 1.3 to 2.0 s | FOR EVERY LEAD | LEAD |

Three beats in two seconds keep the eye moving. The number gets its own beat, because it is the hook.

## Do it in the browser

[Marxx's AI video editor](/features/ai-video-editor) adds word-by-word captions and has caption styles trending on Reels and Shorts, including key-word emphasis, automatic emoji and a sound on key words. You can restyle or retime each word. We make Marxx.

## Mistakes to avoid

- Putting the lines in the bottom third, where Reels buttons sit
- Highlighting every word, so nothing stands out
- Leaving a transcription error in a price
- Using a thin font that vanishes on a bright shot

## FAQ

### What are Hormozi-style captions?

Large, bold captions that show a few words at a time, with the current word highlighted. The name is how editors and creators describe the look.

### What font should I use?

Use a heavy sans-serif font, large and high in contrast. Pick one that stays readable on bright and dark shots.

### Should I burn the captions in?

Burned-in captions give you full control of the style, but viewers cannot turn them off. They suit this look, because the animation is part of the picture.
