To make a product video with AI, start with clean photos of the real product, write one short motion prompt per shot, generate several clips for each shot with an image-to-video model and keep the best. Then edit them together with text, sound and a call to action. Check each clip against the real product.

## Steps

1. **Take clean photos.** Use a plain background, good light, three angles and a sharp label. The AI can only keep details that the photo shows. Tools for this are listed in [the best AI product photography tools](/best/best-ai-product-photography-tools).
2. **Plan three shots for 15 seconds.** For example: a reveal, a close-up of the best feature, and the product in use.
3. **Pick a model.** Models differ on motion, text and length. See [how to choose an AI video model for ads](/guides/how-to-choose-an-ai-video-model-for-ads).
4. **Write one move per prompt.** For example: "Slow push-in on the steel bottle on a kitchen counter, soft morning light, no text." Ready prompts are in [AI video prompts for product ads](/templates/ai-video-prompts-for-product-ads).
5. **Generate four takes per shot.** Keep the best one.
6. **Check against the real product.** Compare shape, colour, buttons, logo and label text with the product in your hand. Drop clips where text is warped or a feature is added.
7. **Edit.** Join the clips. Add large text for the hook, a voice-over or music you have rights to, and an end card with the offer.
8. **Export for the placement.** Meta's ad guide gives 1440 x 2560 pixels at 9:16 as the design recommendation for Instagram Reels ads, in MP4 or MOV (checked 2026-10-20, [Meta](https://www.facebook.com/business/ads-guide/update/video/instagram-reels)). See [how to make Reels ads](/guides/how-to-make-reels-ads).
9. **Label and test.** Check the rules below, then test the video against your best photo ad.

## Rules that touch product videos

ASCI's new guidelines prohibit exaggerating product results or features through synthetic visuals, even with a label. They require a label for demonstrations of a product that does not currently exist ([ASCI](https://www.ascionline.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Guidelines-for-Responsible-Labelling-of-Synthetically-Generated-Content-in-Advertising.pdf), checked 2026-10-20). Routine edits such as colour correction need no label. The guidelines take effect three months after publication. See [how to label AI-generated ads on Meta](/guides/how-to-label-ai-generated-ads-on-meta).

## A worked example

Say you sell a INR 1,299 steel bottle. You plan 3 shots and generate 4 takes of each: 12 clips. You keep 3, and cut them into one 15-second ad.

You run the video and your best photo ad at INR 600 a day each for three days, so INR 1,800 on each. Say the results look like this:

| Ad | Spend | Orders | Cost per order |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo ad | INR 1,800 | 11 | INR 164 |
| AI video | INR 1,800 | 18 | INR 100 |

With results like these, you would put more budget behind the video and make a second one for another product.

## Mistakes to avoid

- Letting the AI change the product's colour or add features
- Clips longer than the shot needs
- Music you have no licence to use
- Skipping the frame-by-frame check
- Using one clip for every ad, which tires the audience

We make Marxx. It has a production canvas that publishes to Meta. See the [production canvas](/features/production-canvas).

## FAQ

### Can AI make a video from a single product photo?

Yes, image-to-video models animate a still image. Quality depends on the photo and the model, so generate several takes.

### How long should an AI product video be?

Short enough to show one idea per shot. A 15-second video with three 5-second shots is a good first test.

### Do I need to label an AI product video?

Not for routine edits. ASCI asks for a label when a product demonstration shows something that does not exist yet, and prohibits exaggerated results.
