Use a tool that finds the pauses in your clip and cuts them for you. In Premiere Pro that is the Pauses filter in the Transcript panel, in DaVinci Resolve Studio it is Remove Silence, and in Descript it is Shorten word gaps.

CapCut is not officially available in India: it is not on the Indian App Store, and its pricing page shows no plans to visitors from India (checked 3 Nov 2026). Premiere Pro is now called Adobe Premiere.

## Steps in any tool

1. Keep a copy of the original clip.
2. Make a transcript first if the tool needs one. Premiere Pro and Descript work from it.
3. Set how short a gap counts as silence. Start with a long gap so only dead air goes, then run it again with a shorter one.
4. Run the cut and play the result with the sound on.
5. Cover any harsh jump with b-roll or a zoom.
6. Add captions after the cut, not before. Adobe advises making captions from your final edited sequence.

## A worked example

Say your talking-head clip is 60 seconds and has 14 pauses that average 0.8 seconds. That is 11.2 seconds of dead air (14 x 0.8). Cut them all and the clip drops to 48.8 seconds.

Now say you keep 0.2 seconds of each pause, so the voice still breathes. You remove 0.6 seconds from each, or 8.4 seconds in all, and the clip runs 51.6 seconds. Pick the version that sounds natural to you.

## Mistakes to avoid

- Cutting every breath, so the voice sounds rushed
- Clipping the first word of a sentence. Resolve lists Pre Head and Post Tail settings for the edges of each cut
- Cutting a quiet moment you meant to keep, such as a pause before the price
- Skipping the listen-through
