In Premiere Pro (now called Adobe Premiere), make a transcript, open the Text-Based Editing workspace, select the filter icon in the Transcript panel, choose Pauses, then select Delete all. Adobe says Text-Based Editing is included with your subscription.

## Steps

1. Create a project and import your media.
2. Make the transcript. Choose Window > Text and select Transcribe sequence, or pick Automatic Transcription when you import the media. If the dialog asks, download the language pack for your language.
3. Open the Text-Based Editing workspace.
4. Select the filter icon in the Transcript panel.
5. Choose **Pauses**. The other choices are Text, Filler words and Speakers.
6. Select **Delete** to remove one pause, or **Delete all** to remove them in bulk.
7. Play the sequence from the start.

Adobe's page for this was last updated on 7 Jan 2026 and names no minimum version (checked 3 Nov 2026). It also gives no setting for the shortest pause, so judge the result by ear.

## A worked example

Say your talking-head sequence is 90 seconds and the Pauses filter finds 22 pauses that average 0.9 seconds. Delete all removes about 19.8 seconds (22 x 0.9), so the sequence runs about 70.2 seconds. If it feels rushed, undo and delete only the longest pauses one by one.

## What to check afterwards

- **Jump cuts.** Cover any harsh one with b-roll or a zoom.
- **Breathing room.** Leave a short beat before the price or the call to action.
- **Captions.** Adobe says Text-Based Editing does not support the captions workflow. Make captions from your final edited sequence, after the cut.

## No Premiere Pro?

DaVinci Resolve Studio has its own Remove Silence command. See [how to remove silence in DaVinci Resolve](/guides/how-to-remove-silence-in-davinci-resolve). For a tool-by-tool view, see [how to remove silence from a video](/guides/how-to-remove-silence-from-video).

[Marxx's AI video editor](/features/ai-video-editor) cuts silences in the browser and exports an editable timeline for Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. We make Marxx. Plans start at $9 a month at launch prices (checked 3 Nov 2026).

Premiere is sold by subscription, with no free desktop plan and a 7-day free trial on the single-app plan. For plans, see [Premiere Pro pricing](/prices/premiere-pro-pricing). To weigh a transcript cut against a timeline cut, read [text-based editing vs timeline editing](/compare/text-based-editing-vs-timeline-editing).
