Keep your AI tool read-only until you trust it, then make every change arrive as a draft or an approval request that a named person checks. Before you approve, check the account, the object, the before and after numbers, the money at stake and how to undo it.

## How tools handle approval

AI ad tools sit at different points between "only reads" and "acts on its own". Here is what each one's own site says (checked 6 Nov 2026).

| Tool | How changes happen |
|---|---|
| Marxx | Never changes ads from Slack. If ad changes are switched on for a client, it prepares a draft change that you review in Marxx |
| Ryze | Sends recommendations to Slack with Approve and Dismiss buttons. "Hit Approve in Slack, and the change goes live." |
| Markifact | "Nothing goes live without you". You approve changes in chat or in Slack |
| Polar Operator | "Any action that changes something outside Polar is held for human confirmation" |
| Optmyzr | "No changes without your approval, ever." |
| Runneth | Read-only by default. An owner or admin turns on ad launching, and editing or pausing live ads has its own extra switch. Its site says there is no per-action approval step for each tool call |
| Adstellar | Its agent "pauses waste, scales winners, and adjusts budgets". No per-change approval step found on its site |

We make Marxx. Approving in Slack is quicker, and Ryze and Markifact are built for that. Reviewing in the ad tool shows more context on a larger screen. Runneth's model suits teams who prefer to set permissions once rather than approve each step. Pick the style that matches who on your team owns the budget.

## The checklist before you approve

1. **Right client and account.** Read the account name, not just the campaign name.
2. **Right object.** Campaign, ad set or ad. Pausing a campaign is not pausing one ad.
3. **Before and after.** The current value and the new one, written out.
4. **Money at stake.** What the change could spend in the next 24 hours.
5. **The reason.** The numbers and the date range the AI used.
6. **Timing.** Avoid changes in the middle of a sale or a launch day.
7. **Undo.** Who can reverse it, and how fast.

## A worked example

Say an AI tool drafts this for Northwind Escapes, a made-up client: raise the daily budget on "Goa prospecting" from INR 5,000 to INR 8,000, because its cost per lead was INR 310 over 7 days.

Run the checklist:

- **Money at stake:** INR 8,000 − INR 5,000 = INR 3,000 more a day, or INR 21,000 more over a week.
- **The reason:** INR 310 a lead over 7 days. Check how many leads that was. If it was 12 leads, the sample is small.
- **Timing:** a jump of 60% in one go. INR 3,000 / INR 5,000 = 60%. A smaller step, such as INR 6,000 first, limits the risk if the cost per lead rises.

Karan Mehta edits the draft to INR 6,000 and applies it. The AI did the reading. Karan made the call.

## Set rules before the first change

- Decide a money limit. For example, any change above INR 2,000 a day needs the account owner.
- Name one approver per client.
- Keep a log. Note who approved what and when.

## FAQ

### Can Marxx apply a change from Slack?

No. In Slack it answers questions. A draft change, when ad changes are switched on for the client, is reviewed and applied in Marxx.

### Is approving in Slack safe?

It can be, if only the right people can press Approve and every message names the account and the before and after values. Check both before you turn it on.

### Should a junior be able to approve?

Only within a small money limit you set. Bigger budget changes should go to the person who owns the client's spend.
