# How to send leads to a separate Slack channel for each client

> Agency setup for lead notifications in Slack: one channel per client, a separate leads channel where it helps, @Marxx invited, repeated per client.

Give each client its own Slack channel, set it as that client's default channel in your lead tool, and send leads to a second `-leads` channel if the client gets many. In Marxx you do this per client under **Settings -> Integrations -> Slack -> Manage**, and each client's settings stay separate.

## Why one channel per client

- **Nobody calls the wrong client's lead.** A Goa travel lead never lands next to a dental clinic's lead.
- **You can invite the right people.** The client's sales team can join their channel and nobody else's.
- **Questions stay on one client.** Marxx answers @Marxx questions only in a channel that belongs to one client, not in channels two clients share.

## Plan the channels first

Write the map before you click anything. Say your agency runs three clients:

| Client | Default channel | Leads channel | Who joins the leads channel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Northwind Escapes | `#northwind-ads` | `#northwind-leads` | Your account manager, the client's two sales callers |
| Wanderlast Holidays | `#wanderlast-ads` | `#wanderlast-leads` | Your account manager, Priya Shah from the client |
| Saffron Table Foods | `#saffron-ads` | Same as default | Your team only |

Saffron Table gets a handful of leads a week, so one channel is enough. The two travel clients get leads every hour, so leads get their own channel and alerts and digests stay readable. For channel names, see [Slack channel naming conventions for agencies](/templates/slack-channel-naming-conventions-for-agencies).

## Set it up in Marxx

1. In Marxx, go to **Settings -> Integrations**, connect Slack, and click **Manage**.
2. Switch to the first client, Northwind Escapes.
3. Set **Default channel** to `#northwind-ads`. Every Marxx message for this client goes there unless you say otherwise.
4. Under **What goes to Slack**, switch on **New leads** and send it to `#northwind-leads`.
5. In Slack, add **@Marxx** to both channels. If Marxx cannot post in one, the Slack settings name the channel it needs.
6. Switch to the next client and repeat steps 3 to 5.

Each client in Marxx is its own workspace, with its own Meta, Google and Slack connections. See [client workspaces](/features/client-workspaces). We make Marxx.

## Channels you share with the client

Many agencies invite the client's team through Slack Connect, which links channels between two companies. See [Slack Connect](/glossary/slack-connect) for how it works. Two things change in a shared channel:

- **Buttons.** People from the other company cannot use Marxx buttons such as **Mark contacted**. Agree who calls each lead, and let your own team press the buttons.
- **Questions.** Marxx does not answer @Marxx questions in channels shared with other companies. Keep an internal channel for those.

Contact details are hidden in Slack by default. If you switch on **Include name and contact details**, everyone in the channel sees them, including the client's people.

## Common mistakes

- **One `#all-leads` channel for every client.** Marxx settings are per client, so you would point every client at one channel by hand, and lose the separation.
- **Forgetting @Marxx in the new channel.** Leads go to a channel Marxx is not in, and the settings flag it.
- **Setting up one client and assuming the rest follow.** Settings do not copy across clients. Repeat them.

## FAQ

### Can two clients share one leads channel?

You can point both at the same channel, but you lose the clean split, and @Marxx will not answer questions there. Use one channel per client.

### Do I need a separate Slack workspace per client?

No. One Slack workspace with one channel or two per client is enough. Marxx keeps each client's settings separate.

### Can the client's sales team mark leads contacted from Slack?

Not in a channel shared through Slack Connect. People from other companies cannot use Marxx buttons, so your own team presses them, and only for clients they can open in Marxx.
