To snooze an ad alert in Slack, open the menu on the alert message and choose **Snooze 7 days**. The alert then sends no emails or Slack messages for 7 days, but Marxx keeps checking it, so nothing is lost.

## Snooze from Slack

These steps are for Marxx alerts. We make Marxx.

1. Find the alert message in the client's Slack channel.
2. Open the menu on the message and choose **Snooze 7 days**.
3. If this is your first time pressing a Marxx button in Slack, a message only you can see asks you to **Link your Slack account**. Confirm it once in Marxx, then go back and snooze.
4. The message updates for everyone in the channel: "High CPA snoozed until 13 Nov by Karan Mehta".

Snoozing works only for clients you can open in Marxx. People from other companies in a shared channel cannot use the buttons.

## What snoozing changes

| | Leave on | Snooze 7 days | Turn off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Emails | Sent | None for 7 days | None |
| Slack messages | Sent | None for 7 days | None |
| Marxx keeps checking | Yes | Yes, and you still see what it finds | No, the alert is off |
| Comes back on its own | Not needed | After 7 days | No, switch it on again |

Snooze is a pause on the noise, not on the watching. That makes it the safer choice when you expect the alert to matter again.

## When to snooze, when to turn off

Snooze when the cause is known and short-lived:

- **You already acted.** Say you paused two ads in the Goa retargeting ad set on 6 Nov. Cost per result will take a few days to settle. Snooze until 13 Nov and look again.
- **A planned change.** A new campaign in Meta's [learning phase](/glossary/learning-phase) will look expensive for a few days.
- **A sale week.** Diwali or White Friday spend runs hot on purpose.

Turn off when the rule itself is wrong, for example a CTR alert on a brand awareness ad set where CTR does not matter. Then fix the rule or delete it.

A simple habit helps the team. When you snooze, reply in the thread with one line saying why, such as "Paused 2 ads, checking again on 13 Nov". Whoever reads the channel next knows the alert is handled. Agencies that run a [Slack channel per client](/guides/how-to-set-up-slack-for-an-ad-agency) get a running record of every decision this way.

## Unsnooze early

1. Open the client in Marxx and go to its alerts.
2. The snoozed alert shows "Snoozed until ...".
3. Open its menu and choose **Unsnooze**.

You can also snooze from Marxx, which helps when the alert has not fired yet but you know it will. More on the full setup in [Meta ads alerts in Slack](/guides/how-to-set-up-meta-ads-alerts-in-slack).

## FAQ

### Can I snooze for longer than 7 days?

The Slack menu offers 7 days. If an alert needs a longer break, the rule probably needs changing, so turn it off and fix it.

### Will I miss a problem while an alert is snoozed?

You miss the messages, not the checks. Marxx keeps checking and shows what it finds in Marxx, so open the client there before the snooze ends if you are unsure.

### Can everyone see who snoozed an alert?

Yes. The Slack message updates to show the alert name, the end date and the person who snoozed it.
