To use Advantage+ sales campaigns, click **Create** in Ads Manager, choose the **Sales** objective, and keep three things on automation: budget set at the campaign level, Advantage+ audience, and Advantage+ placements. Then add several different ads and a budget big enough for about 50 purchases a week.

Meta replaced Advantage+ shopping campaigns with Advantage+ sales campaigns, which use the same automation features. Facts here come from Meta's [developer docs on Advantage+ campaigns](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/advantage-campaigns), its [sales campaigns page](https://www.facebook.com/business/ads/meta-advantage-plus/sales-campaigns) and its help pages, checked 2026-10-20.

## What makes a campaign "Advantage+"

Meta's docs say a sales campaign gets the Advantage+ state only when all three of these are on:

| Setting | What it takes |
|---|---|
| Budget | Set at the campaign level, with a supported bid strategy such as lowest cost without a cap, cost cap, bid cap or minimum ROAS |
| Audience | At least one ad set uses Advantage+ audience, or only location targeting, or individual targeting with relaxation |
| Placements | No placement targeting or placement exclusions on the ad sets. Account-level exclusions are allowed |

If you change a setting outside these rules, the campaign stops being Advantage+. Meta describes its most advanced automation as the case where the campaign uses Advantage+ audience, campaign budget, placements and destination.

## Step by step

1. **Open Ads Manager** and click **Create**.
2. **Choose Sales** as the objective.
3. **Keep the three settings on.** Leave budget at the campaign level, use Advantage+ audience, and do not add placement exclusions.
4. **Add your catalog if you sell products from one.** Meta says that on the sales objective you turn on Advantage+ catalog ads for the campaign and select your catalog. In the ad set, go to **Promoted products** and pick the product set you want to advertise ([Meta](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1132465490107046), checked 2026-10-20).
5. **Set location and budget.** Use the countries you sell to. Work the budget from your cost per purchase. See [how to set a Facebook ads budget](/guides/how-to-set-a-facebook-ads-budget).
6. **Add different ads.** Different hooks, formats and offers. Not five versions of one idea.
7. **Publish, then leave it alone** for about a week before you judge it.
8. **Judge at the campaign level.** Meta says that with campaign budget on, you should look at results for the campaign as a whole, not for individual ad sets ([Meta](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/220698029821552)).

Meta's docs say the old existing-customer budget cap is not available on new Advantage+ campaigns. To split new and existing buyers, they suggest two ad sets: one aimed at your existing-customer audience with a daily spend cap, and one that excludes that audience.

## A worked example

Say a fashion brand runs three manual ad sets at INR 3,000 a day each. Each gets about 15 purchases a week. The numbers are made up.

- Three ad sets: 15 purchases each, far under 50
- One Advantage+ campaign at INR 9,000 a day: about 45 purchases a week, close to the roughly 50 Meta looks for

It then adds 12 different ads, and watches the campaign total. After a week it sees 45 purchases at INR 1,400 each, or INR 63,000 of spend / 45. That is the number to compare with the old ad sets.

## When to be careful

- **Small budgets.** Too few purchases for the system to learn from.
- **Special ad categories.** Meta says they may not get every Advantage+ feature.
- **Tests that need a clean split.** If you must test one audience against another, use a manual campaign. See [Advantage+ vs manual campaigns](/compare/advantage-plus-vs-manual-campaigns).

## Mistakes to avoid

- Turning a setting off, then wondering why it is not automated
- Editing it every day, which can reset learning
- Reading ad-set numbers when you should read the campaign. See [what is Advantage+ audience](/glossary/advantage-plus-audience)
- Feeding it one ad

## FAQ

### Do I need a catalog?

Not to start. Meta's developer docs say you create ads in an Advantage+ sales campaign the same way as in a manual sales campaign, with or without catalog ads. If you sell from a catalog, turn on Advantage+ catalog ads and select it.

### Are Advantage+ shopping campaigns gone?

The name is. Meta now calls them Advantage+ sales campaigns, and its docs describe the setup as three automation settings.

### How is this different from CBO?

Campaign budget is only one of the three settings. See [Advantage+ vs CBO](/compare/advantage-plus-vs-cbo).
