# How to use ChatGPT for Facebook ads

Use ChatGPT for the thinking and writing around your Facebook ads: finding angles, drafting copy, mining reviews and reading exports. It cannot see your ad account unless you paste data or connect it, and you must check every line before it goes live.

## Steps

1. **Write a brief.** Product, price, buyer, offer, tone and words you must not use. Paste it at the top of every chat.
2. **Paste real inputs.** Reviews, support questions and comments. Remove names and phone numbers first.
3. **Ask for angles, not ads.** An angle is the reason to buy. Pick two. See [how to come up with ad angles](/guides/how-to-come-up-with-ad-angles).
4. **Ask for versions of one angle.** Give the limits. For Facebook Feed, Meta's Ads Guide recommends 50 to 150 characters of primary text and a 27-character headline ([Meta](https://www.facebook.com/business/ads-guide/image/facebook-feed), checked 2026-10-20). 5. **Check every claim.** An AI draft can contain an invented discount, feature or number. Delete anything you cannot prove.
6. **Run the rules check** below, then test the winners against your current ad.

## Meta rules to check before you publish

- **Do not point at the viewer's health or money.** Meta's policy allows "New diabetes treatment available" but bans "Do you have diabetes?" It also bans lines that imply the viewer's financial status ([Meta](https://transparency.meta.com/policies/ad-standards/objectionable-content/privacy-violations-personal-attributes/), checked 2026-10-20). Scan your drafts for "Struggling with..." and "Do you..." openers.
- **No cure claims.** Meta bars ads that claim to cure a fixed list of illnesses, including diabetes, cancer and HIV. Ads may still talk about managing symptoms ([Meta](https://transparency.meta.com/policies/ad-standards/restricted-goods-services/health-wellness/), checked 2026-10-20).

## A worked example

Say you sell a INR 899 box of protein bars. You paste 40 reviews and ask which phrases buyers repeat. ChatGPT says "no 4pm slump" appears in 11 of them. You count a few yourself to be sure. Then you ask for five hooks that use the phrase. Version three reads: "No 4pm slump. 12 bars, INR 899." You run it against your current ad with the same budget.

## Meta's own writing tool

Ads Manager can generate up to five variations of primary text and headline. Meta lists English, Portuguese and Spanish as supported input languages ([Meta](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/180641596861873), checked 2026-10-20). If you write in Hindi or Hinglish, draft in ChatGPT and ask a native speaker to read the result.

- Asking for "a Facebook ad" with no brief
- Asking about your account's numbers when you pasted none
