In Edits, tap the resolution label at the top right of your project to choose resolution, frame rate and colour, then tap Next and Download (checked 3 Nov 2026). Edits is free to download, and Instagram says exports carry no watermark.

## Export steps

Instagram's help page for downloading a video from Edits gives this path.

1. Open your project.
2. Tap the resolution label in the top right. Choose the resolution, frame rate and colour.
3. Tap **Projects** at the bottom, then tap the project.
4. Tap **Next**, top right, then tap **Download** to save the video to your camera roll.
5. To post it as a Reel, tap **Share to Instagram**. Or tap Next > Instagram > Save draft.

If you edit after exporting, the saved file does not change. Export again.

## What the options are

Instagram's help page does not list the choices inside resolution, frame rate or colour. Here is what the official pages do say.

- Edits records video in HD, 2K or 4K, and you can change the frame rate and colour (camera help page).
- The App Store says you can export in 4K with no watermark.
- The App Store mentions "dynamic range" in the camera settings. The help pages never say "HDR", so check what your colour option offers.

## Pick settings by clip

| Your clip | Export with |
|---|---|
| Shot at 1080p, 30 fps | 1080p, 30 fps |
| Shot at 4K | The highest size the label offers, same frame rate |
| Mixed clips | The rate most clips use |

This is general advice, not an Instagram rule. Meta's Reels ad guide asks for 9:16, H.264 and a fixed frame rate (checked 3 Nov 2026). Instagram does not say which codec Edits writes. See [Reels export settings](/guides/best-export-settings-for-instagram-reels).

## Using the file in ads

"Share to Instagram" posts a normal Reel. For a paid ad, tap Download, then upload the saved file in Ads Manager. Meta's [Reels ad specs](/guides/instagram-reels-ad-specs) list the size and text limits.

Edits needs iOS 16.3 or later on iPhone, and also runs on Android. It is free in India as well. The App Store lists "In-App Purchases" but names none, and no help page marks a feature as paid. See [Edits pricing](/prices/edits-app-pricing).

## FAQ

### What export settings should I use in Edits?

Use the resolution and frame rate your clips were shot at, and keep the project 9:16. Instagram's pages do not give a single recommended setting.

### Does Edits add a watermark?

Instagram says Edits exports have no added watermark (Meta newsroom, 22 Apr 2025).

### Can I export from Edits in 4K?

The App Store listing says yes. The help page does not list the export resolutions, so check the label in your project.
