Facebook ads in Vietnam run in Meta Ads Manager, and Meta adds 10% VAT to your bill unless it has validated your business as registered in Vietnam. You can pay by card or PayPal, or by Momo or VNPay if you chose a local method when you set up the account in Vietnamese dong.

## Facts that differ in Vietnam (checked 2026-10-20)

| Fact | Vietnam |
|---|---|
| Ad transparency | The [Meta Ad Library](/glossary/meta-ad-library) shows every active ad ([Meta](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/2405092116183307)). Vietnam is on Meta's list of countries where ads about elections or politics need authorisation and a disclaimer. For Vietnam, only the name on the disclaimer is shown on those ads ([Meta](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/2150157295276323)). |
| Tax on Meta's bill | Since 1 July 2025, Meta adds 10% VAT, the standard rate (up from 5%), when your "Sold To" country is Vietnam. You do not have to give a tax code. Since 12 October 2026, you can enter your tax code and registered business name and upload your business registration document. If Meta validates you, it adds no VAT and you pay it yourself. Without validation, it keeps adding VAT for business and personal buyers ([Meta: Vietnam VAT](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/938907633499274)). |
| Main languages | Vietnamese is the national language, and each ethnic group may use its own spoken and written language ([Constitution, Article 5](https://vietnamlawmagazine.vn/the-2013-constitution-of-the-socialist-republic-of-vietnam-4847.html)). |
| Popular platforms | Ad reach in late 2025: Facebook 79.0 million, TikTok 76.1 million (adults only), YouTube 62.1 million, Instagram 11.7 million. Zalo, a chat app, reports 78.3 million monthly active users, as stated by its parent company VNG ([DataReportal](https://datareportal.com/reports/digital-2026-vietnam)). Ad reach is the audience each platform's ad tool reports, not active users. |
| Payments and currency | Mastercard and Visa cards, PayPal, and the manual methods Momo and VNPay. Amex is not listed. Manual methods need Vietnam as the account country and dong as the currency, and you must choose one when you first set up the ad account ([Meta](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/156344978275918)). The dong is on Meta's list of [accepted currencies](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/151451521590943). |
| Time zone | UTC+7 all year, no daylight saving ([IANA tz database 2026e](https://www.iana.org/time-zones)). |

## Key selling dates (checked 2026-10-20)

- **Black Friday:** Friday 27 November 2026 ([plan](/campaigns/black-friday-ad-ideas)).
- **Tet (Lunar New Year):** Saturday 6 February 2027 ([Hong Kong Observatory](https://www.hko.gov.hk/en/gts/time/calendar/text/files/T2027e.txt)).
- **Tet holiday:** on 12 October 2026 the Ministry of Home Affairs announced seven days off for civil servants and public employees, Thursday 4 to Wednesday 10 February 2027. Private employers choose their own split of the five statutory days ([Vietnam Government news](https://en.baochinhphu.vn/viet-nam-announces-2027-public-holiday-schedule-111261012155048477.htm)).

## What to run and when

Say you spend VND 50,000,000 and Meta has not validated your business. Meta adds 10%, which is VND 5,000,000, so you pay VND 55,000,000. If Meta has validated you, it adds nothing and you account for the VND 5,000,000 yourself. Ask your accountant which route suits you.

Facebook reaches 79.0 million people here, so you have room to test several creatives at once. Test before Black Friday, then plan your Tet creative early. Selling across the region? Compare [Thailand](/markets/meta-ads-in-thailand) and [Indonesia](/markets/meta-ads-in-indonesia).

To see what rival brands run before you spend, search the Ad Library by hand. We make Marxx, which [tracks competitor ads](/features/competitor-tracking) on Meta and Google in one place.

## Common mistakes

- Leaving 10% VAT out of the budget. Meta adds it on top until it validates your business.
- Entering a tax code but not uploading the registration document. Meta cannot validate you.
- Planning on Momo or VNPay without choosing it when you first create the ad account in dong with Vietnam as the country.
- Expecting Amex to work. Meta lists Mastercard and Visa cards for Vietnam.

## FAQ

### When is Tet in 2027?

Saturday 6 February 2027. Civil servants and public employees get seven days off, 4 to 10 February.
