Google Ads published a full help page for **Promotion mode** on **4 November 2026**, an open beta that lowers your Target ROAS and can add extra daily budget for a sale lasting 3 to 14 days. When the sale ends, your old target and budget come back on their own.

## What we know

[Search Engine Roundtable spotted the new page](https://www.seroundtable.com/google-ads-promotion-mode-help-document-42446.html) on 4 November 2026. The feature itself is not new, but the [Google help page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/18111661) now sets out the rules:

- **Campaigns:** standard Search and Performance Max, with campaign-level Target ROAS only.
- **Not allowed:** portfolio bid strategies and shared budgets.
- **Your settings:** a ROAS tolerance from 5% to 90%, and an optional extra daily budget.
- **Retail:** Google lists retail support as coming in November 2026.

## What it means for your ad account

Promotion mode lets Google bid on more searches during your sale without you editing the campaign twice. Suppose your Target [ROAS](/glossary/roas) is 400% and you set a 25% tolerance. Google bids to a 300% target for the sale days. On INR 10,000 of spend, that means it aims for INR 30,000 in sales instead of INR 40,000, in return for more volume. Google still never bills more than twice your daily budget in a day.

## What to do this week

1. **Check eligibility.** Open the campaign's Settings, then **Budget and bidding optimization**, then the Promotion mode panel.
2. **Set it 48 hours ahead** for a new campaign. Google says existing campaigns should run a full conversion cycle first.
3. **Pick a tolerance you can afford.** Stay above your [break-even ROAS](/glossary/break-even-roas).
4. **Remove CPC bid limits** on that campaign for the sale.
5. **Plan the whole sale** with our [festive sale guide](/guides/how-to-plan-a-festive-sale-campaign) and [Black Friday ad ideas](/campaigns/black-friday-ad-ideas).

## FAQ

### Can I change my ROAS target during the promotion?

Make changes inside the Promotion mode settings, not the normal ones. Google says that is where target and budget changes belong while a promotion runs.

### How do I end a promotion early?

Shorten the end date or turn off Promotion mode in the campaign settings.

### How long until results settle afterwards?

Google suggests allowing one to two conversion cycles for Smart Bidding to settle after a big change.
