# Google Maps puts a Message button next to Call, linked to WhatsApp or SMS

**Google Maps** on Android and iOS now shows a **Message** button right next to **Call** on a business listing, reported on **6 November 2026**. It opens **WhatsApp** or a text message, whichever the business has linked. Before, the chat option sat far down the profile.

## What we know

Google shared the change in its Small Business Bulletin on the Business Profile forum, as [Search Engine Roundtable reported](https://www.seroundtable.com/google-maps-messaging-android-ios-42472.html).

- **Where it shows:** the profile view, the expanded header and the bottom action bar.
- **Channels:** WhatsApp or SMS, set by the business.
- **Who can add it:** claimed and verified Business Profiles, per [Google's help page](https://support.google.com/business/answer/15013580?hl=en).
- **Countries:** Google says "select regions" and names none.
- **Catch:** if you add both WhatsApp and SMS, people see only SMS.

4. **Search your business on Maps** from a phone and tap Message to test it.
