---

Google updated its Performance Max help page, reported on **5 November 2026**, to say channel definitions will come to standard Search and Shopping reports in **2027**. Google gave no month.

## What we know

[Search Engine Roundtable](https://www.seroundtable.com/google-ads-pmax-channel-report-search-42454.html) quoted [Google's help page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/16260129?hl=en). Today the definitions show only in Performance Max and Demand Gen channel reports. PPC News Feed reports that the old placement code "x" is being replaced:

| Place | New code (reported) |
|---|---|
| Maps | m |
| Gmail | gm |
| Discover | dsc |

Google's page confirms the 2027 date. The code list comes from PPC News Feed.

## What it means for your ad account

If a sheet, GA4 or a CRM filters on the old "x" code, traffic may be labelled wrongly once the codes change. Your [ROAS](/glossary/roas) by channel could then look worse or better than it is.

## What to do this week

1. **Find every filter** that reads Google placement codes.
2. **Note the reported new codes** and plan the edit, but wait for Google's own list.
3. **Check your tracking** against [Google Ads conversion tracking](/guides/how-to-set-up-google-ads-conversion-tracking).
4. **Keep an eye on brand searches** after the [Performance Max brand filter](/news/google-pmax-may-filter-brand-searches) change.
