Meta's updated Commercial Terms take effect on **30 October 2026**, and they add a section on AI features. It says Meta's AI can make mistakes and that you carry all the risk for those features and anything they produce in your ads.

## What we know

- **Confirmed by Meta:** its [Commercial Terms page](https://www.facebook.com/legal/commercial_terms) shows a banner with the 30 October 2026 date and links to the [updated terms](https://www.facebook.com/legal/commercial_terms_preview) (checked 23 Oct 2026).
- The new AI section says the features may not give accurate, complete or suitable results, and that you judge whether the content suits your business.
- A separate clause lets Meta's crawlers pull updates from websites you share with it.
- **Reported:** Adweek, as summarised by [PPC Land](https://ppc.land/meta-makes-advertisers-solely-responsible-for-its-ai-ad-edits-from-oct-30/) on 22 October, says the old wording covered only AI tools you chose to use. Meta says the update only gathers existing policies in one place.

## What it means for your ad account

If Meta's AI changes a price, a claim or an image in your ad, the terms treat that ad as yours. This lands two days after Meta turns on [product browsing in existing ads](/news/meta-product-browsing-on-by-default-october-28), and in the same week as [ChatGPT's own default rewrites](/news/chatgpt-ads-creative-enhancements-on-by-default).

| Date | Change | Your move |
|---|---|---|
| 28 October 2026 | Meta turns on product browsing in existing ads | Opt out first if you want it off |
| 29 October 2026 | OpenAI turns on creative enhancements in ChatGPT ads | Opt out in ChatGPT Ads Manager |
| 30 October 2026 | Meta's terms put AI risk on you | Check which AI edits your ads use |

## What to do this week

1. **List every live ad** with Advantage+ creative options switched on.
2. **Turn off** any edit you cannot check, ad by ad, in Ads Manager.
3. **Note 30 October** in your [weekly ad report](/templates/weekly-ad-report-template).
4. **Decide your default.** Our [Advantage+ vs manual campaigns](/compare/advantage-plus-vs-manual-campaigns) page lays out the trade-off.

## FAQ

### Do I need to accept the new terms?

No click is needed. Reports say using Meta's business products after 30 October 2026 counts as acceptance.

### Does this cover AI features I never turned on?

The new section talks about AI features in general. Meta has not said publicly whether features it turns on by default count differently.

### Does this apply in India and the Gulf?

Yes. The Commercial Terms cover business use of Meta's products, and the 30 October banner shows on the Hindi version of the page too.
