Good ad copy puts the offer or the problem in the first line, says one thing and ends with one action. Below are 12 examples, grouped by pattern, that show how.

We wrote these examples. They are not from real brands and have not been tested, so change the product, price and wording to fit yours.

## Know how much text shows

Meta's Ads Guide lists a recommended primary text length of 50 characters for Facebook Feed image ads and 125 for Instagram Feed image ads. For Instagram Reels it lists 44 (checked 2026-10-20). Anything longer can be cut behind a "more" link, so put the point first.

Google's responsive search ads take up to 15 headlines of 30 characters and up to 4 descriptions of 90 characters (checked 2026-10-20 on [Google's help page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/7684791)).

## Problem, then fix

1. **Skincare:** "Oily skin by 2pm? Our gel moisturiser sits light and does not feel greasy. INR 549. Try it today."
2. **Food:** "Home by 9 and too tired to cook? Open the pack, heat for ten minutes, eat. 4-pack at INR 399."
3. **App:** "Not sure where your salary goes? See every bill and subscription in one place. Free to start."

## Offer first

4. **Fashion:** "INR 300 off your first order. Kurtas at INR 799 and INR 999, free delivery above INR 999. Offer ends Sunday 11:59pm."
5. **Home:** "Buy 2 candles, get the third at half price. Hand-poured in small batches."
6. **Service:** "Book a home AC service this week and save INR 200. Same-day slots in Bengaluru."

Only write "ends Sunday" if it really does.

## Story and proof

7. **Founder:** "I could not find a protein bar that tasted like food. So we made one. Here is what is inside."
8. **Review-led:** "'[A line from a real review].' [First name], verified buyer. See all [number] reviews." Use only a review you hold and have permission to quote.
9. **Process:** "Every batch is tested before it ships. See how we do it in 30 seconds."

## Question and call-out

10. **Question:** "Is your phone dying by 4pm? This 10,000 mAh power bank fits in a jeans pocket."
11. **Call-out:** "Café owners: still printing menus every month? Switch to a QR menu you edit in a minute."
12. **Local:** "New in Pune: weekend pottery classes for beginners. First class INR 499. Seats are limited to 12." Say "limited" only if the room really holds 12.

## A Google search ad example

Say you sell hair oil online. A set of fields for responsive search ads could read:

Each field stays inside the limits above. Write more headlines than you need, because Google mixes them.

- Write the first line last. Draft the body, then pick the sharpest sentence and move it up.
- One ad, one message. Split a second message into a second ad.

You can, but your own buyers' words work better. Lift phrases from your reviews and support chats, and check every claim is true before you run it.
