Festive sale copy names the festival, states the offer in the first line and gives a delivery date people can trust. The examples below show how, for Diwali 2026.

We wrote these examples for you to adapt. They are not from real brands and have not been tested.

## Copy by phase

Write the delivery date only after you have checked it with your courier.

## Copy by category

1. **Sweets and snacks:** "Boxes of 12, packed fresh this week. Send one to someone far away."
2. **Jewellery:** "Light pieces for daily wear, with prices on every card. Hallmarked."
3. **Home and decor:** "Lamps, toran and candles. Make the house ready by Sunday."
4. **Fashion:** "Festive kurtas at INR 899 and INR 1,199. Size exchange at no extra charge." Say "no extra charge" only if that is true (see below).
5. **Electronics:** "Upgrade this Dhanteras. Add your old phone's exchange value at checkout."
6. **Skincare:** "Gift sets under INR 999. A box that looks as good as it feels."

## Safe-copy rules

India's consumer regulator has published rules that touch festive copy. This is a summary, not legal advice.

- **No fake urgency.** The Dark Patterns Guidelines (30 November 2023) name false urgency: stating that stock or time is more limited than it is. "Only 3 left" must be true.
- **"Free" means free.** The 2022 misleading advertisement guidelines say you cannot call something free if the buyer pays for packing or handling, or if the cost is built into the package price.
- **Give a fixed price.** The same guidelines say to avoid "prices from as low as Rs Y" and state the price.
- **Disclaimers match the claim.** They must be in the same language and font as the claim.

## A worked example

Say you sell scented candles at INR 1,299 each. You run a bundle: 3 for INR 2,999. Three at full price cost INR 3,897, so the buyer saves INR 898, which is 23%. Your line reads: "3 candles for INR 2,999. You save INR 898. Order by 4 November for delivery before Dhanteras." The saving, the price and the date are all checkable.

### When should festive ads start?

Start teasers two to three weeks before the first festival, so Meta has time to learn before costs rise. Put the offer live a week before Dhanteras.

### Can I say "limited stock" in my ad?

Yes, if stock is truly limited. Say how limited when you can, and never invent a countdown.
