A good ad headline is short, specific and tells people what they get. Below are 36 examples, each 27 characters or fewer.

We wrote these. None comes from a real brand or has been tested, so adapt them to your product and prove every claim.

## How long a headline can be

Meta's Ads Guide lists a recommended headline length of 27 characters for Facebook Feed image ads and 40 for Instagram Feed image ads (checked 2026-10-20). Every headline below is 27 characters or fewer, so it fits both. The headline is separate from the [hook](/glossary/ad-hook), which is the first line of your video or primary text.

## A worked example

Say you sell a INR 549 oil-control moisturiser and want to find the best headline. Pick one from each of three groups and run them with the same image and primary text:

- Offer: "INR 100 off your first order"
- Benefit: "Matte skin till evening"
- Call-out: "Oily skin? Start here"

Give each the same budget. After each has spent about twice your target cost per purchase, keep the one with the lowest cost per purchase and write three more in its style. Note the result in a [creative testing tracker](/templates/creative-testing-tracker-template).

## Tips

- Say what the person gets, not what your company is.
- One idea per headline. Put the second idea in the primary text.
- Pair it with the right button. See the [call to action examples](/templates/call-to-action-examples-for-ads).
- Selling classes or sessions? Use the [coaching ad copy templates](/templates/ad-copy-templates-for-coaching).
- Write full body copy next. The [ad copy examples](/templates/ad-copy-examples) show twelve patterns.

## FAQ

### Do headlines matter on Reels?

A video ad lives or dies on its first seconds. Put your effort into the hook and the words on screen, and check the placement preview in Ads Manager to see which text shows.

### How many headlines should I test?

Three to five on the same image and primary text is enough to see a pattern. More than that spreads the budget too thin.
