A good video ad script fits on a card: a hook in the first three seconds, one problem, the product doing its job and one action to take. Below are six scripts of 15 to 30 seconds.

We wrote them. They are not from real brands and have not been tested, so change the details to match your product and keep only what is true.

## 1. Product demo, 15 seconds (kitchen gadget)

| Time | On screen | Voice |
|---|---|---|
| 0-3s | Hand holds a garlic peeler over a pile of garlic | "Peeling garlic takes forever." |
| 3-10s | Close shots: roll, shake, peeled | "Roll, shake, done. Ten cloves in ten seconds." |
| 10-15s | Product and price on screen | "INR 299, delivered to your door. Link below." |

## 2. Creator review, 25 seconds (ready-to-cook food)

| Time | On screen | Voice |
|---|---|---|
| 0-3s | Creator at the counter, 9pm | "I get home at nine and cook nothing." |
| 3-10s | Opens pack, pan on | "So I tried this. Open, heat, ten minutes." |
| 10-20s | Plates it, takes a bite | "Honestly, better than I expected." |
| 20-25s | Offer card | "First order is INR 100 off. Link's right there." |

The creator must say what they truly think. Never script praise they do not mean.

## 3. Founder to camera, 30 seconds (D2C)

| Time | On screen | Voice |
|---|---|---|
| 0-4s | Founder in the workshop | "I started this because I could not find a bag that lasts." |
| 4-15s | Shows stitching, tests the zip | "Here is what we changed and why." |
| 15-25s | Shows the three colours | "We make small batches, so we sell out." |
| 25-30s | Link and offer | "Take a look. If it is not for you, send it back." |

Say "send it back" only if your return policy allows it.

## 4. Problem and fix, 20 seconds (money app)

| Time | On screen | Voice |
|---|---|---|
| 0-3s | Phone with a long list of bills | "Where did my salary go?" |
| 3-12s | Screen recording: link account, see categories | "This app puts every bill in one list." |
| 12-17s | Taps cancel on an unused subscription | "I found one I forgot I had." |
| 17-20s | Download screen | "Free to start. Download it today." |

## 5. Local service, 20 seconds (home AC service)

| Time | On screen | Voice |
|---|---|---|
| 0-3s | Sweating family, AC dripping | "Is your AC dripping water?" |
| 3-12s | Technician opens the unit | "We service it at home, in about an hour." |
| 12-17s | Booking screen | "Pick a slot. Same day, if we have one." |
| 17-20s | WhatsApp icon | "Message us to book." |

## 6. Festive gift, 15 seconds (sweets box)

| Time | On screen | Voice |
|---|---|---|
| 0-3s | Hands wrap a box | "Still looking for a Diwali gift?" |
| 3-10s | Open box, pieces shown | "Twelve pieces, packed fresh this week." |
| 10-15s | Delivery date card | "Order by [date] and it arrives before Diwali." |

Fill the date only after your courier confirms it.

## How to adapt a script

1. Time it. Read the voice lines aloud with a stopwatch, and cut words until they fit the seconds.
2. Film three different openings and keep the rest the same. Hooks decide most of the result, so test them in the [hook rate](/glossary/hook-rate) and [hold rate](/glossary/hold-rate) columns of your report.
3. Add captions. Many people watch without sound.
4. Keep one call to action.

For the five-beat structure, use the [UGC script template](/templates/ugc-script-template) and send creators a [UGC brief](/templates/ugc-brief-template). For opening lines, see [hooks for D2C ads](/templates/hooks-for-d2c-ads). If you want to generate the shots, see [AI video prompts for product ads](/templates/ai-video-prompts-for-product-ads).

## FAQ

### How long should a video ad be?

Most of these run 15 to 30 seconds. Make the first cut short, then test a longer version of any winner.

### Should I script every word?

Script the beats and the key lines, and let the speaker use their own words for the rest. It sounds more natural and is easier to film.
