A good AI video prompt describes one short shot: the product, one action, the camera move, the light and the length. Keep each clip to a single idea, then join clips into an ad.

Below is a formula and eight prompts we wrote for you to adapt.

## The formula

```
[Length: 4-6 seconds], [9:16 vertical]
[Shot type: close-up / medium / wide]
[Product, described plainly]
[One action: pours, spins, is picked up, lights up]
[Camera: slow push-in / static / slow pan]
[Setting and light]
[Mood]
No text, no logos.
```

## Eight prompts to copy

```
1. Hero reveal: 5 seconds, 9:16. Close-up of a glass serum bottle on a marble shelf. A hand lifts it into frame. Slow push-in, soft morning window light, calm mood. No text, no logos.
2. Texture: 4 seconds, 9:16. Macro shot of a white cream swirled with a spatula, slow motion, bright studio light, clean mood.
3. Pour: 5 seconds, 9:16. Medium shot of masala chai poured from a steel kettle into a glass, steam rising, warm side light, cosy morning kitchen.
4. Unboxing: 6 seconds, 9:16. Top-down shot of hands opening a kraft box and lifting out a candle, soft daylight, tissue paper moving.
5. Sneaker motion: 4 seconds, 9:16. Low-angle tracking shot of a white running shoe hitting wet pavement, city lights blurred, cool evening light, energetic mood.
6. Sizzle: 5 seconds, 9:16. Close-up of paneer cubes sizzling in a pan, oil spitting, flames low, warm light, appetising mood.
7. Lifestyle: 6 seconds, 9:16. Medium shot of a woman applying sunscreen on a balcony, morning light, relaxed mood, camera static.
8. Festive hand-over: 5 seconds, 9:16. Medium shot of a brother receiving a wrapped gift from his sister, diyas glowing behind, warm festive light, slow pan.
## Size, sound and safe zones
Meta's Ads Guide lists 9:16 at 1440 x 2560 pixels for Instagram Reels video ads. Keep text, logos and key visuals clear of the top 14%, the bottom 35% and 6% on each side. The guide calls captions and sound optional, but recommends both (checked 2026-10-20).
On a 2,560-pixel-tall video, that bottom 35% is 896 pixels. Profile icons and buttons can cover it, so keep faces and products higher up.
## A 15-second shot list
Suppose you sell a INR 549 moisturiser. Stitch three clips of five seconds each:
| Seconds | Clip | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 0-5 | Texture macro (prompt 2) | Stops the scroll with something to look at |
| 5-10 | Hand applies it on the cheek | Shows the product in use |
| 10-15 | Hero reveal (prompt 1) plus a text card with price and offer | Closes with the product and action |
Add a voice line and captions, such as one from the [ad script examples](/templates/ad-script-examples). The first three seconds do most of the work, so test different openings and compare [hook rate](/glossary/hook-rate).
## Tips
- **One action per clip.** If the prompt asks for a pour, a spin and a smile, the result usually turns to mush.
- **Generate several takes.** Keep the best and discard the rest.
- **Add text and logos yourself.** AI video can warp letters.
- **Match the real product.** Do not use a clip where the pack, colour or size is wrong.
- **Pair with a real face when trust matters.** See [AI UGC vs human UGC](/compare/ai-ugc-vs-human-ugc).
- **Start from a still.** Make the image first with the [AI image prompts for product ads](/templates/ai-image-prompts-for-product-ads), then animate it.
- **Borrow openings.** [Hooks for D2C ads](/templates/hooks-for-d2c-ads) lists lines to say over the first clip.
We make Marxx. Its [production canvas](/features/production-canvas) covers image, video, voice, dubbing, avatars and UGC, and publishes to Meta, so the clips, the voice and the ad live in one place.
## FAQ
### How long should an AI clip be?
Aim for four to six seconds. Longer clips drift more, and you can always join several.
### Can AI video replace filming?
For simple product shots, it can help. For anything where a real person's trust matters, a real creator is usually the safer choice.
